Greetings-- The Bloomfield Township Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic librarian committed to high quality Library service to children and their families and ready to join the Youth Services team. The Bloomfield Township Public Library is a class V Library, with a service population of 42,000+ people. There is strong community support for the Library, collections, services and programs offered. The Library promotes inclusivity in the diverse collections and programs available to all ages and abilities. Technology is integrated into Library services. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to provide quality public service and the desire to work in a collaborative, team environment. POSITION TITLE: Librarian DEPARTMENT: Youth Services, reporting to Department Head HOURS: Part-time, 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends on a flexible basis. WAGES & BENEFITS: $22.82 – 30.81 per hour. Paid time-off benefits include: vacation, sick, holiday, personal business, and emergency time. Term life and disability income insurance provided. Eligible for deferred compensation and other voluntary benefits. Professional membership and opportunity to participate in professional development available. REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM: • ALA accredited masters in Library and Information Science • Professional experience working with children • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills to work effectively with staff, volunteers and Library users in a team environment • Broad knowledge of current trends and developmentally appropriate practices in libraries for young people (birth through middle school) and families • Strong commitment to providing high quality public service to patrons of all ages and abilities • Familiarity with Windows-based computers • Familiarity with current technologies and social media within the public library • Able to lift, push, and/or pull at least 20 pounds; able to visually review materials and discern voice and audible tones • Ability to create, publicize, and conduct programs and services to reflect current and future community needs DESIRABLE: • Public Library work experience in Youth Services • Successful experience presenting developmentally appropriate programs for young people • Knowledge of children’s literature and media –both current and classic • Knowledge of popular culture for children and families • Experience with selection, budgeting, and deselection of material for children • Ability to adapt to change and embrace new ideas • Experience adding content to website RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides positive, professional service to the public; plans and conducts developmentally appropriate programs for young people (birth through middle school) and their families; provides reference and readers advisory; participates in the selection, development and evaluation of youth print, non-print, and electronic resources; prepares bibliographies, guides and displays; instructs patrons in the use of downloadable material; develops and conducts outreach programs to the community; contributes to the Library website, other duties as assigned. From constitutional law, civil rights, and court procedures to how to handle a divorce, estate plan, or landlord-tenant matter, from new self-help titles with a Michigan focus to legal classics, we're ready to move the books off the shelves and out around the state. Browse and borrow items directly from the stacks of the State Law Library or check them out at your local public library through MeLCat. Michigan Building Code, 2015: Michigan's current code includes information about building permits, regulations for building systems, and other provisions for building professionals to reference. Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and the Law in a Nutshell: As an overview of state and federal laws about the LGBT community, this guide covers a lot of information in a simple-to-understand format. Some of the topics covered are an overview of historical regulations, laws on parenthood and marriage, and laws on nondiscrimination. Student Loan Law: A good overview of student loans and your options when it comes to repayment and default. The guide mostly covers federal loans, but there is a section on private loans as well. This position reports to the Court Librarian and helps to maintain the collection of law books located in the Lansing Hall of Justice. Duties include shelving books, inserting pocket parts, and updating library binders. The Assistant will be working 20 to 30 hours per week, for a duration of 4 to 5 months. This temporary position pays $10.00 per hour. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school level coursework or skills acquired through vocational or applied skills courses, basic computer skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook email. The Assistant must be able to follow instructions, work quickly, accurately, and independently, as well as, work cooperatively with other employees, judges, and judicial staff. The physical requirements for the job include lifting and transporting materials, files, and books weighing up to 45 pounds. Missing Discs

Hello Everyone, Do you have a policy regarding discs missing from DVD sets or audiobooks when they are returned? If you never get them back, do you charge the patron for the entire item or just the one disc? If so, how much do you charge and where do you get your replacement discs from?
