Program note: LOCAL AUTHOR BOOK FAIR Friday, September 8, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Civic Center Library, City Hall Conference Room The Warren Civic Center Library is proud to present a panel of over a dozen local authors. Their works run the gamut from fiction (thrillers to romance to mysteries to intrigue and more), poetry, non-fiction (including African American history) and young adult fantasy. Did you survive eclipse day??

We made it!! We received 200 pairs of glasses and only passed them out at our 2 programs. The first program was last month and 40 attended, so that left us 150 pairs for today. We held strong and did not pass any out ahead of time (whew, that was hard!). We expected maybe 100 people. We had activities such as coloring pages, word search, galaxy slime, plus moon themed snacks and of course the coveted eclipse glasses. We ended up with more than 300 in attendance with many waiting in line for 30 minutes or more to receive their glasses. We ran out in the end and the last groups had to share. The best thing about the day, besides the awesome turnout, was the fact that almost all were very respectful, calm, and willing to share. I hope your day went as well as ours! The change was approved by the Wayne State Board of Governors in June and reflects the expanded coursework and degree options offered by the school, including a forthcoming master of science in information management. JOB SUMMARY: The Head of Public Services is a member of the library management team assisting in planning, prioritizing, and setting goals for Marshall District Library programs and services. The Head of Public Services has responsibility for supervising the Public Services staff as well as coordinating the publicity, programming, outreach, and youth services functions of the Marshall District Library. The Head of Public Services oversees the development of educational and recreational programming for all audiences in addition to overseeing the marketing and publicity of library events in all media formats. The Head of Public Services will perform library outreach and develop programming partnerships in the community. This member of the staff provides direct public services at the Help Desk, and participates in collection development activities. The Head of Public Services may represent Marshall District Library at community events. REQUIREMENTS: ALA/MLIS required with a minimum of 3 years public library experience.
