Hi Elissa I will answer your questions about homebound delivery Who delivers the books. We use a mail service that picks up bags here and puts postage on mailing tag to go thru the mail. How do you handle due dates. Most items will have due dates the same as the library uses. I will extend if they have dvd Do we cap the number of people of residencies you serve at one time? No cap Would anyone be willing to share written policies regarding homebound service. None in place. Posting for Position of Library Director 7/24/2017 The Holly Township Library Board is seeking a library director with leadership skills, knowledge of all aspects of library administration and superior communication skills. The Holly Township Library is located in the northwest corner of Oakland County. In addition to Holly Township residents, the library also serves residents in Groveland and Rose Townships. The annual budget is approximately $360,000 (including a 1 mill voted levy). The director would supervise a staff of 6 FTE, manage a 6,000 square foot library, oversee a collection of 50,000 items and administer a web based ILS. The library participates in the MeLCat statewide resource sharing program, the MILibrary borrowing program and an Overdrive Cooperative for the acquisition of electronic materials for patron use. Education & Experience A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution; possession of a Level 2 Librarian's Professional Certificate from the Library of Michigan, or the ability to obtain one on hire; a minimum of experience in an administrative capacity. Work Hours/ Compensation This is a salaried, exempt position for a minimum of 40 hours per week. It will include some evening and weekend hours as necessary. Responsibilities Content ingestion (65%) - Manages ingestion of digital content and bibliographic metadata, including descriptive and holdings data. Coordinates with contributor contacts and HathiTrust staff to manage ingest data and digital content. This includes: - Digital content and associated descriptive metadata corresponding to contributions from a variety of digitization sources and collection building projects. - Print holdings and retention metadata from all HathiTrust members to support HathiTrust services, programs, and budgeting. - Establishes and documents standardized workflows for collections and metadata submission. - Maintains content and metadata specifications and other documentation for contributors. - Prepares and presents orientation sessions for new contributors about HathiTrust ingestion processes. - Reviews overall workflows and solicits contributor and staff input to continually improve workflows. - Evaluates as needed file formats for feasibility to preserve in HathiTrust, in coordination with preservation specialists at the University of Michigan and HathiTrust member institutions. - Manages contribution workflows: metadata contribution, content contribution and ingest, content quality remediation, and metadata enrichment. - Sets up ingestion of new content streams and maintains tracking systems for processing steps. - Answers questions from members and other contributing institutions about procedures and specifications for contributing metadata and content. - Trouble-shoots ingestion issues with HathiTrust systems staff and Zephir metadata management system staff on behalf of contributors. - Maintains ingestion statistics and reporting. Program support (25%) - Analyzes data and prepares reports and visualizations to support decision making for collection development, member services, and other purposes as needed, working with database specialists from University of Michigan staff. Preservation practices (10%) - Documents and ensures compliance with guidelines and best practices for preservation of HathiTrust digital content over the long term. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in related field. For appointment as a librarian, an ALA-accredited master’s degree, or a relevant advanced degree, is required. - Strong organizational skills and demonstrated skills in project management for discrete, small to mid-size projects. - Experience in at least one of these related areas: digital repository management, large-scale digitization, metadata management, library bibliographic data management. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Strong customer service mindset. - Demonstrated ability to form successful collaborative relationships across complex organizations involving diverse stakeholders. Desired Qualifications - Master's degree in library/information science, archives management, or a related field. - Expert analytical skills and ability to combine, manipulate and normalize datasets from diverse sources for purposes of query and analysis. WWI programs

We've had several great library programs recently about WWI. Lois Sprengnether Keel: http://www.lois-sez.com/ She presents in costume, with props, about a bilingual young woman from the Port Huron area who enlisted in the Army Signal Corps, served in France during the war, but was denied veteran's benefits until the Carter administration. Lois is also in the MI Humanities Touring Directory, when there are funds available.
