Comstock Township Library is lucky enough to have a dedicated millage in perpetuity. The Township has always handled our payroll and vendor checks for free, but is now considering charging us an administrative fee for these services. They will not let us run our own system because they say it needs to tie into their system for legal reasons. Does any other library pay an administrative fee for these services? If so, would you be willing to share the costs? I want to get some baseline figures to know if what they will be asking is within reason. New email address

Hello - As part of the process of switching to a new web host, we now have new email addresses. We were able to set it up so that we can still receive mail at the "@galesburgcharlestonlibrary.org" address but any new messages that we send will feature the new suffix: "@gcmdl.org." Director - director(a)gcmdl.org Circulation (ILL) - circulation(a)gcmdl.org Childrens Services - children(a)gcmdl.org In order to ensure that I receive your messages in a timely manner, please update my address to: director(a)gcmdl.org. We will leave the old addresses open for at least 6 months (probably longer). We are NOT changing the web site address... it will continue to be "galesburgcharlestonlibrary.org." Thank you. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions. complaints about Halloween at libraries?

Hello all, Has anybody ever had a patron, or group of patrons, who have complained or challenged the library about a Halloween themed event? I am currently planning a small Halloween themed story time and craft event here. However, I have a group of patrons, who have mentioned that their children are not allowed to read some of the fantasy books we have in the library because they are encouraging thoughts about ghosts, magic, and the supernatural. While they have not challenged the books, I am concerned that they might complain or challenge the event. I was just wondering if any other libraries have had this come up. Any help is appreciated!
