The Northville District Library seeks an enthusiastic, innovative Librarian to join our customer service directed team, as detailed below: Position: Reference/ Teen Services Librarian – Part Time 20 Hours per week Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends. Duties: Provide reference, instructional, and reader’s advisory services for patrons of all ages. Responsible for development and maintenance of Teen collections, both print and non-print. Develop and carry out programs for middle and high school youth. Oversee annual Battle of the Books for middle school students, working with schools and other staff. Contribute to Library’s online presence. Related duties as assigned. Reports to the Head of Adult Services. Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited college or university. Must have strong public service orientation and be able to work effectively with teens. Able to assist library users with the Internet and electronic databases. Able to speak and write effectively and use standard computer software for written reports. Previous library experience and strong knowledge of YA literature preferred. Salary: Salary range: $21.44 to $ 25.00 per hour. Paid time-off benefits include prorated vacation, sick leave, personal business days and holidays. This is a Union position. Hello All and good afternoon, the Library of Michigan doing our biannual surveys for library patrons and library staff about MeL and statewide services. We do surveys every two years to improve our services and to provide data for our reports to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which provides funding for MeL databases, MeLCat and other statewide programs. MI Attorney General Reports - free offer

Forwarded on behalf of the Michigan Dept. of Attorney General - please contact them directly, do not reply to this email. Thank you! The Michigan Department of Attorney General prints their biennial reports every two years. Due to inventory numbers there are reports starting with 1933-34 to 2013-14 which are available to libraries at no cost. The Department of Attorney General cannot cover shipping costs but may be able to arrange hand-delivery when an AG staff member is in your area. If you would like to arrange pick-up in Lansing, just let me know. Policy Request - Fund Balance

Hi, Everyone! Our library is considering a policy regarding our fund balance. I found a suggestion by the Government Finance Officers Association that governments should establish a formal policy that governs the level of fund balance as well as guidelines for increasing and decreasing the unrestricted fund balance. While we are not a government, we are under scrutiny by our County Board and think that having a set of guidelines in place may help us defend an increase or decrease of our fund balance. If you have a policy for your library or know that your municipality has one, I would certainly appreciate any examples that we can use to help shape one of our own. Thank you in advance, Megan
