E-Rate Training Sign-Up Now Available

E-Rate Training The E-Rate Activity will be hosting three duplicate applicant trainings this fall. The day will cover changes to E-Rate as a result of the Modernization Orders as well as filing strategies. If you are new to E-Rate, it is highly advised that you attend the "E-Rate Applicant Beginner Training," on October 22, 2015 at Winding Brook (Shepherd, MI), in addition to one of the three "E-Rate Applicant Training" dates. Prerequisites: Participants are required to watch the EPC Video Tutorials<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001mxisx1vqUuIJk4BnITKhs8zQf2F6xxCa9o_HfoCkpsZL…>. Participants are also expected to arrive to training with a user account in EPC. Wayne State Promotes Kafi Kumasi to Associate Professor

The Wayne State School of Library and Information Science is pleased to announce that faculty member Kafi D. Kumasi has been awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor, effective August 2015. Kumasi, a SLIS faculty member since 2009, teaches in the areas of school library media, urban librarianship, multicultural services and resources, and research methods. A Laura Bush 21st century scholar, she holds a PhD in Curriculum Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington; the MLIS from Wayne State; and a BS in Education from the University of Michigan. Kumasi's research interests revolve around issues of literacy, equity and diversity, particularly in urban educational environments spanning K12 and graduate school contexts. In addition to her teaching and research duties, Kumasi serves as the Faculty Liaison/Lead Instructor for the School's current IMLS grant, Project IDoL<http://idol.slis.wayne.edu/>, Increasing the Diversity of Librarianship, and as a Mentor for The Lilead Fellows Program<http://lileadproject.org/the-lilead-fellows-program/>, an advanced professional development opportunity for school district library supervisors. Physical Activity Requirements: [Degree of physical demands (strength) usually associated with the essential functions of the job] Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
