City Transferring Ownership of Library Building

Hello, Our City Council has agreed to begin the process of transferring ownership of the library building over to the District Library. The only condition is that the agreement contain a clause that would revert ownership back over to the City for $1 should the library consider moving. My questions: Do any of you have similar agreements with your city's or local municipalities? Do any of you have an agreement that does not contain a revert clause -- if so, how was this negotiated (did you purchase the building from your local municipality for full market value..etc). Typewriters for Public Use

Good afternoon all, I've had a couple of patrons asking if there are any libraries that offer typewriters for public use. Most seem to be patrons who are not computer literate who are hoping to use them to do their taxes. Are their any libraries in the Metro Detroit area that offer this service? This new leader will be a key Library partner working with City agencies, nonprofit organizations, and the Hartford Public Schools setting the vision for the future for Hartfords children and young adults. The successful candidate will be customer-focused, forward-thinking, and collaborative with both internal and external customers. The Chief Youth & Family Services Officer will also be knowledgeable about current youth and family issues, will understand cutting edge youth services and technology trends, be committed to literacy for all ages, and facilitate the fusion of traditional and nontraditional library services for youth and families. Creativity and innovation are part of the complete package and a joy for working in a large, diverse, urban environment is crucial. Ongoing programs include YOUmedia Hartford and the YOUmedia Makers Space, the Librarys Great Summer Read, the Center for Civic Engagement, ARTWalk, the award-winning American Place, CTWorks@HPL, The Kitchen at Hartford Public Library, the Hartford History Center, and One Book, One Hartford. A 2002 IMLS National Service Medal winner, the Library was also a finalist for the medal in both 2013 and 2014. Hartford Public Library serves 124,775 residents with ten facilities and a $9.6 million annual budget. In FY14, the library staff (98FTE) hosted 833,000 visits and circulated nearly 500,000 items. Internet neutrality petition?

I hope people don't mind my sending this to the list. Library users of internet services (to say nothing of library budgets) would be horribly affected if Net Neutrality is blocked. I just took action once again to try and keep the FCC chairman from ignoring public outcry from all but the big money pushing for subscriptions to faster access. He came to his position after being a lobbyist for them, but even the president who appointed him is talking up Net Neutrality. With all the effort to show support for Net Neutrality, perhaps it would be reasonable to urge library users of internet services to sign an online petition to the Federal Communications Commission to protect our access to fast and affordable Internet service.
