Japanese Children's books?
by Thomas Trahey 02 Feb '22

02 Feb '22

We have a patron looking for Japanese children's books for a child in elementary school that wants to read, but is struggling with English. We haven't had much with the MeL search engine, but have had luck by first searching Ann Arbor's catalog (Thank you Ann Arbor!) for titles and then searching for those in MeL. So, my question is, are there other libraries in Michigan with a large collection of Japanese language children's books? Thank you! -- Thomas Trahey Mason County District Library Head of Circulation 231-843-8465

E-mail Hosting question
by Angela Semifero 01 Feb '22

01 Feb '22

Hello Michigan Library Friends, We have been working with Gmail/Google Workspace for free for more than a decade. (I know we have been lucky.) We were recently informed that things would be changing in May 2022 and we would be moved to one of Gmail's business plans. I have a couple of questions for your collective mind: 1. Do any of you have a contact for Google for government use who can answer some questions for us? Our Head of IT has not had much luck in asking questions through the main sales contacts. 2. What do you currently use for email hosting? Does it include anything that allows for collaborative documents and calendars like G-suite? We are still considering Google with new pricing but we are curious about what other libraries are using. Please reply off-list to semiferoa(a)yourmdl.org. Thank you all! Sincerely, Angela -- Angela Semifero Library Director Marshall District Library 124 W. Green St. Marshall, MI 49068 (269)781-7821x1100 semiferoa(a)yourmdl.org

Strategic Planning Consultants
by Andrea Ingmire 01 Feb '22

01 Feb '22

Hi all, As promised here is the list of Strategic Planning Consultants I came up with. Some came from Michlib-L responses, some from general searching, and EveryLibrary provided a list as well. We're getting quotes from several of these groups, but not all. When responses came from Michlib-L I noted whether recommendations were positive or mixed, but didn't include any specifics. And, to be fair, I really didn't get many responses back from Michlib-L. Which is why including responses didn't seem quite necessary. Good luck with your strategic planning projects!!
