Michigan GetSetUp partnership. GetSetUp provides live, online classes for older Michigan adults. You can take advantage of the service and save your staff time from developing duplicate content. The Library of Michigan and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are partnering to support the ability of older Michigan residents to access live, online virtual classes on a variety of topics such as technology, meditation, brain fitness, art, cooking, financial planning, aging in place, and more. MDOC ban on non-English dictionaries

Hi everyone! As you may have seen, NPR recently reported <https://www.npr.org/2022/06/02/1102164439/michigan-prisons-ban-spanish-and-…> Michigan Department of Corrections facilities have restricted the use of and/or banned non-English language dictionaries. Dictionaries and other reference materials are some of the most important foundational materials in a prison library. Dictionaries also are among the most requested materials by incarcerated people both internally and to outside groups who send books. This talk is related, because some program participants have expressed confusion about what false-color imaging is. Our speaker Russ Carroll is a former X-ray astronomer. The Detroit Masonic Temple contains incredibly detailed craftsmanship, a variety of architecture, and at 210 feet tall and 550,000 square feet is the largest building of its kind in the world. Join Rob Moore, Executive Director of the Detroit Masonic Temple Library Archive and Research Center and Chief Temple Docent, for an overview of its history, design, and importance to metro Detroit.
