Grant opportunities: Michigan Architectural Foundation

Good morning, The Michigan Architectural Foundation is looking to provide education grants for libraries in Michigan to help support STEM programming statewide. Previously, Baldwin worked with the MAF to develop and purchase items for STEM kits that included building and architecture toys/tools along with a list of program ideas for various ages. These kits were then delivered to libraries around the state to use for in house programming. They want to provide grants in the amount of $5,000-10,000 for programs that would attract kids from preschool to 18 years of age. They prefer to fund rather than develop the program. Right now MAF is in the information gathering stage. If you have any ideas of something they could do that could benefit your library, please let me know and I will forward it to the committee working on this project. D. teaches, researches, and publishes technology integration practices, visual and media literacy skills, creativity, and collaboration at the University of West Georgia, while also studying the visual representation of identity, relationships, and culture in Asian children's literature. Dr. Baylen has co-edited five books and a special section in TechTrends and is one of the 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholars. Tina Chan is the Reference Services Program Manager and Humanities Librarian at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Libraries. She is the liaison to the global languages department and the writing program and is currently the coordinator-elect of ALA Sustainability Round Table. Brian D. Leaf is the Executive Director of NNLM Region 3, an NIH/NLM-funded program office that serves the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. He is passionate about outreach and trying to find ways to serve marginalized and underrepresented populations through health information. Charisma Lee was born in Manila and raised in Denver, and currently works as a librarian at DC Public Library. Touger Vang is Director of Learning Resources and Professional Development Coordinator for Montgomery Community College located in Troy, North Carolina. He has worked with refugees and first-generation college students for over 15 years. His experience and research with underrepresented populations inform his community-engaged approach to delivering library and information services. Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month with JDL's Culinary Heritage Panel!

Hi everyone, I am delighted to announce that in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, Jackson District Library is presenting a panel on culinary heritage in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. We are honored to welcome five distinguished panelists from across the country-Danilo M. Baylen (University of West Georgia), Tina Chan (MIT Libraries), Brian D. Leaf (NNLM Region 3), Charisma Lee (DC Public Library), and Touger Vang (Montgomery Community College). Anna Clark, JDL's Community Engagement Coordinator, will be moderating the event. Director - Bullitt County Public Library (KY) Opportunity awaits the next Director of the Bullitt County Public Library<https://bcplib.org/> (KY). The five-member Board of Trustees seeks a new leader who will work to fulfill the library's mission to empower the community through free and open access to relevant, informative, and engaging resources and services. With 74 FTE, a $6.4 million budget, and new facilities, BCPL is poised to meet the evolving needs of its patrons. Open access to technology, information, facilities, and resources are all high priorities for the library and a part of its DNA. Key initiatives include completion of the new central library, promoting the library with local stakeholders, demonstrating the institution's value to taxpayers, and maintaining a cohesive and positive organizational culture by supporting staff. Located in the North Central portion of Kentucky, Bullitt County is surrounded by gorgeous hills, the Ohio River, and sits just 30 minutes south of Downtown Louisville. With Shepherdsville as its county seat, the region is home to the Jim Beam Distillery, Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest, and a growing community of over 82,000 residents. Three golf courses, beautiful lakes, and countless hiking trails provide a variety of experiences for families and those who love the outdoors. The region serves as a main north-south transportation corridor and continues to see economic growth through several major business parks and more than 6 million square feet of warehousing facilities. Bullitt County Public Schools is the seventh-largest system in the state and offers The Discovery School, a project-based learning STEM school. Responsibilities. The Director oversees and guides the activities of the library by acting as Chief Executive Officer, responsible for the provision of exceptional public service delivery. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in board development, government relations, budgeting, reporting, planning, marketing, and advocacy efforts. Additional functions include evaluation of long and short-term projects to keep services current with community needs; review of library operations with decision-making on complex problems; preparation of annual and special reports, agendas, and budgets; oversight of the library's public relations and fund development activities; and review of overall staffing patterns, work schedules, staff evaluations, and professional development. Minimum qualifications are a Master's degree in Library Science, a minimum of three (3) years of library administrative or significant supervisory experience, possession of or the ability to obtain appropriate certification from the Kentucky Board for the Certification of Librarians<https://kdla.ky.gov/librarians/staffdevelopment/Pages/certification.aspx>, and a valid driver's license required. Hi all, If you are a PA 164 library who does their audit separate from the city, what firm do you use for that audit? We are becoming established under section 10a and my board is wondering who to use.
