projector recommendations?

Hello, The projector we use for presentations & movie screenings seems to be giving up. We think it was purchased in 2008, so it really doesn't owe us anything. Does your library have a recent model you love, and could recommend? I'm just beginning to shop, and don't really know what I'm looking for - are there any features you've found especially helpful? YALSA's Transforming Teen Services An In-Person Workshop, 10am-5pm ET at the three following locations: Monday, November 14th at Bloomfield Township Public Library<https://libraryofmichigan.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/even…>, Tuesday, November 15th at KDL's Kentwood Branch<https://libraryofmichigan.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/even…>, or Thursday, November 17th at Otsego County Library<https://libraryofmichigan.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/even…> This workshop will introduce participants to the core concepts of Connected Learning (CL) and Computational Thinking (CT) and how they apply to teen services. We will explore the Connected Learning principles of relationships, interests and opportunities and how to apply the theory into practice. Using the concepts of CT as a problem-solving framework, we will take part in an activity that introduces library staff to a project they can use for teen programming. Participate in hands-on, interactive learning and discuss what CL and CT are and how they can be integrated into teen activities. This workshop will help participants scaffold knowledge they may already have about CL and CT and use it to recognize the ways in which CT supports CL. Instructor: Leah Delia Larson is a Youth Development Program Leader for Central Minnesota 4-H. Leah has extensive expertise in various levels of education. She started her career in education in 2001, and has taught everything from middle school ESL and special education in Texas to elementary school in Brooklyn, New York. Most recently, she worked with the Minnesota Department of Education as a LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) Grant Coordinator/School and Teen Services Consultant and has worked in K-12 schools as a library media specialist. Leah is passionate about building partnerships to expand youth programming, culturally relevant curriculum, bilingualism and social and emotional health and well-being. Leah has been a trainer and assisted in development of the YALSA Transforming Teen Services course work since 2019. Space is limited and there will be a waitlist. If you register but need to cancel, please do so 72 hours before the event so we can arrange for someone to fill your seat. This project is made possible by grant funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the State of Michigan through the Library of Michigan. Policy Question

Good Friday morning, Library World!! Here's an odd one for you all. Do any of you have policies regarding the usage of thermostats? There has been an ongoing war here for quite some time between warm- and cold-blooded employees. We have 3 thermostats and an electric fireplace. This amounts to, as you can imagine, some large bills when different areas of the library are fighting to keep the temperatures regulated. I'm not fond of the idea of treating adults like children, but this does feel like a case of "if you were the one paying the bills." Mural Ribbon Cutting at East Lansing Public Library

Hi all, Just writing to share a flyer for an upcoming mural ribbon cutting at ELPL. This will take place on September 29 at 10:30am. Everyone is welcome to attend to learn more about the mural and celebrate its official unveiling! The mural by Dustin Hunt of Muralmatics depicts a Black family sitting at the kitchen table discussing current social justice issues, with historical artifacts from East Lansing's civil rights history scattered through the scene. The mural educates the public on the city's past, while illustrating how conversations on justice continue in the city today. Thanks, hope to see some of you there!
