LM VOX Book Sets Offer

The Library of Michigan is again offering book collections for public libraries. This year LM will be distributing VOX books and picture books. The sets will be approximately 10-15 print titles in 3 areas. Specific titles will depend on bulk availability. * All Together Now - a 2023 Summer Reading Themed collection * Spanish/English Bilingual - a collection to support bilingual library programs * High Interest Readers - a Collection of Chapter Books and Nonfiction titles to support struggling readers The Library of Michigan will purchase the books and have them shipped via UPS to your library. We ask that you offer the titles to the public as soon as possible. We anticipate the materials will be available early this summer. Materials will be shipped to your library from Emery Pratt. If requests are more than can be fulfilled, small and rural libraries will be given precedence. Eligible libraries are legally established public libraries. Salud en Español offers basic overviews of health conditions, procedures, and treatments for those seeking information in Spanish. This LSTA grant program is designed to provide public and academic libraries and library cooperatives with the opportunity to expand services for learning and access to information and/or to develop library services that provide all users access to information. The intent is to fund one-year projects that increase capacity to provide access to library collections and information for users. The expected focus will be the improvement in access to library users in one of the four priorities listed below and that align with the LSTA priorities listed in the grant documentation. * Improve access to services & information in areas of literacy. * Improve access to services & information in areas of local history or special collections. * Improve access to information for community users with limited online access, e.g., improving equity through digital inclusion. * Improve access to services and information for underserved community members by developing new or improving current library programming. The grant period is one year (Oct. 1 - Sept. 30) and funding is from $5,000 to $25,000. Funding is by reimbursement only. Applications are due Wednesday, May 31st by 5:00 PM EST. Eligible applicants are Michigan public libraries or library cooperatives that are legally established and currently eligible for state aid or Michigan academic libraries that meet the standards for library service listed in the grant documentation and are currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. A federal Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number is required to apply. The grant program is competitive.
