Webinar: Sustainable Community-Owned Partnerships in Digital Preservation (Digital Preservation Services Collaborative)
by Chelsea Denault 22 May '24

22 May '24

Please see the announcement for an upcoming webinar below. Thank you! -- Dear Colleagues, Educopia Institute and the Digital Preservation Services Collaborative (APTrust, Chronopolis, CLOCKSS, LYRASIS, MetaArchive, and Texas Digital Library) would like to invite you to register for an upcoming webinar exploring the findings, recommendations, and opportunities illuminated by the IMLS-funded Sustainable Community-Owned Partnerships in Digital Preservation: DPSC Planning Project Final Report.<https://zenodo.org/records/11186599?token=eyJhbGciOiJIUzUxMiJ9.eyJpZCI6IjM1…> Click here to join us on 14 June, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm ET, by registering via Eventbrite.<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/webinar-sustainable-community-owned-partnershi…> The Digital Preservation Services Collaborative was funded by the IMLS to reaffirm the need for—and to establish a shared vision for—the sustained viability of values-driven, community-supported approaches to distributed digital preservation (DDP). Beyond gaining a better understanding of the current DDP landscape and conditions in organizations, what emerged was that some non-technical requirements across the information management continuum warrant more attention from community-supported digital preservation service providers. Those non-technical requirements are “advocacy-as-a-service,” best deployed at the institutional preservation strategy-forming moment; and “readiness-as-a-service,” providing hands-on assistance to stewardship organizations as they translate their institutional context and collections needs into digital preservation service requirements. In this webinar, the DPSC asks respected advisors and service users, as well as anyone interested in the future of collaborative digital preservation efforts, to provide their feedback on our findings and help us envision that future. The panel discussion will center around the following questions: * Describe the collaborative advocacy you would like to see. How could advocates organize? Who are the targets of this advocacy? * What is collective readiness? How can readiness be addressed collectively? * What collective funding models help to reduce the impacts of membership fatigue? * Describe the vision for the workshop series described in the findings, as well as the resulting common agenda for collective impact in digital preservation. The webinar will be recorded and made available online on the Educopia website<https://educopia.org/dpsc-planning-project/>, after the event. -- Chelsea Denault, Ph.D. (she/her) Michigan Digital Preservation Network Coordinator Midwest Collaborative for Library Services 517-325-0826 denaultc(a)mcls.org<mailto:denaultc@mcls.org> www.MIpres.org<http://mipres.org/> [Logo]<http://mipres.org/>

Hello all, I have been tasked to run a Leadership Book Club for leaders at my health system via Teams. I did one already but mostly winged it and relied heavily on my charming personality, which was unreliable. Does anyone have a webinar they would recommend on how to run a book club? I am specifically looking for how to maintain conversations, how to ask engaging questions and/ or how to manage a Book Club virtually but any suggestions would be great. "Adventure begins at your library"
by Nannette Pretzer 22 May '24

22 May '24

Hello Cathy, I had previously spoke to you about using the Summer Reading Logo of adventure begins at your library, but we did not use the them but our mural definitely depicts adventure and fantasy begins at your library. Here's a picture of our completed wall mural. Also, there was another lady that was interested in seeing the finished mural, but I can't remember who it was that gave us permission to use the slogan. Anyhow, would you please share it with her. Thanks! Nannette F. Pretzer, Director St. Charles District Library 132 S. Free Used DVD Cases
by Glen Lake Library 21 May '24

Hello all, We've been doing some repackaging and it's left us with a surplus of single disc DVD cases. We have around 400 plastic single disc DVD cases. The overwhelming majority of them are just simple black plastic but there are probably 75 or so white ones as well as some clear slim cases that are only about a quarter of an inch thick. We also have 10 slim clear cases that are can hold two DVDs. If anyone has any want for these, just let us know. Thanks, David U.
