The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) has created a survey so they can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership! Using your own theme? That's ok, we still love your data so please complete it as best you can, even if you didn't use Adventure Begins at Your Library(tm). The survey will open Friday, July 19, 2024, and close on Friday, September 13, 2024. We will send out a link once it is open. FAQs: Who should complete this survey? The audience for the survey is public library staff who played an active role in administering or running 2024 summer library programming. One person per library could fill it out, or multiple library staff from the same library could complete the sections of the survey most relevant to their work; e.g. children, teen, or adult programs. * Please coordinate with your colleagues on who will fill it out, especially if you are in a multi-branch system. * This does NOT need to be filled out by Directors. (Adult/YA/Children program overseers can complete their own portions.) * EVEN IF YOU DID NOT USE "ADVENTURE BEGINS AT YOUR LIBRARY" AS YOUR THEME, we invite you to complete the survey! Is this survey required? No, it is not required, but we would appreciate your input. Every library that responds helps us get a more accurate picture of overall satisfaction with the program. I want to be prepared. What info will I need to provide? * General feedback on using (or not) the 2024 program theme and materials; * Feedback and info about how/whether you tracked participation, as well as stats for participation and programming for children (ages 0-11), teens (12-18) and adults. You may skip any questions for which you don't have the answers. I suggest you wait until your summer program has ended to complete the survey. When does the survey close? The survey is open tomorrow, until Friday, September 13, 2024. Program Recommendation - Parkour workshop with Phoenix Freerunning Academy

Hi all, We had Eric and Jesse(?) from Phoenix Freerunning Academy here last Thursday to do a Parkour workshop for our kids. They were fantastic, and the kids had a blast! It was a 1.5 hour program with a short demonstration and safety discussion, followed by over an hour of hands-on teaching and practice for the kids. We had about 40 kids ages 5+, and the guys were great with them. They kept the crowd moving around to different stations, and tailored their instruction to each kid's abilities. Hello everyone - Access to the MeLCat servers is restored - a full day ahead of the estimate! Thanks for your patience. - MeLCat requesting via Classic and Encore is restored. - DCB client login access is restored. - Web Works Quick Edit access is restored. - We are in the process of restoring the DCB bib autoloads. The records will be up-to-date over the next 24 hours. - All libraries can resume any suspended cataloging or batch record updating. We appreciate your cooperation as that helped shorten the overall downtime. We are still troubleshooting an issue with the Z39.50 access with our vendor. We will update the list when more information is available. POSITION: Library Director *Swanton Public Library *is a school district library serving residents in both Fulton and Lucas Counties, with an annual budget of about $700,000, with revenue from both state funding and a local property tax levy. The Director reports to a 7-member Board of Trustees. *DUTIES*: The Director is responsible for all aspects of library services and works with the Board of Trustees to determine the strategic direction and policies for the library. The Director serves as a highly visible leader within the library, its service area and the library community, leading a dedicated, hard-working and independent staff of 5 full-time and 4 part-time employees. The Director is to ensure courteous, prompt, and comprehensive service to all library patrons in a cost-effective manner consistent with library policies. *QUALIFICATIONS*: The candidate should possess excellent management, public relations, budget, facility and communication skills and believe that the patrons and the staff are the most important assets to the Library. ● ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science with 3 or more years of postgraduate experience in a public library including administrative and supervisory experience preferred ● Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and present ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form. ● Ability to effectively use automated library systems, computers, and other library technologies. ● Effective interpersonal skills consisting of creative and diplomatic management abilities. ● Community engagement and development experience. *COMPENSATION*: Salary range of $50,000-$62,000.
