Leslie From: Warren, Leslie A Sent: Wednesday, April 16, 2014 11:36 AM To: 'michlib-l(a)lists.mcls.org' Subject: library shelving vendors? Hello, everyone Can anyone recommend a vendor for library shelving, please? We need to invite bids for new steel bookshelves (42") and it's been a very long time since we purchased shelving. We're also going to need to expedite the order. If you've worked with a vendor who can turn an order around quickly, that would be very helpful to know. Thanks much and happy National Library Week! The Institute of Museum and Libraries is hosting a meeting on the development of a national digital platform for libraries. While the meeting is in New York, you can participate and provide comments through social media. Please see the press release below for more information. Karren Reish Library Grants Coordinator Library of Michigan 517-241-0021 reishk(a)michigan.gov<mailto:reishk@michigan.gov> From: IMLS News [mailto:imlsnews@imls.gov] Subject: IMLS Hosts Library Convening April 29 at the New York Public Library To view this message in a browser, please click here<http://www.idevmail.net/message.aspx?d=73&m=2053&e=reishk@michigan.gov&r=10…>. [IMLS logo] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 16, 2014 IMLS Press Contact 202-653-4630 Mamie Bittner, mbittner(a)imls.gov<mailto:mbittner@imls.gov> IMLS Hosts Library Convening April 29 at the New York Public Library U.S. Archivist David Ferriero and Other Experts To Discuss National Digital Platform Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) will hold a stakeholder convening about trends in library service on Tuesday April 29, from 9:30 a.m.-- 4:30 p.m. at the New York Public Library. The focus of the meeting, which is the first of three to be held nationwide, is the national digital platform. IMLS invites broad participation via a live webcast, accessible here<http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=1&d=73&mid=363882&m=2053>, and library professionals and the public are encouraged to participate through social media using the Twitter hashtag #imlsfocus<http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=2&d=73&mid=363882&m=2053>. Seating at the event is extremely limited. IMLS supports the work of libraries to meet the nation’s growing demands for digital content. A key strategic priority of IMLS is to promote access to digitized collections to facilitate discovery of knowledge and cultural heritage. An analysis of IMLS grants to states program finds that states have used more than $1 billion in IMLS funding to support a wide range of digital investments, including massive digitization, repositories, and data aggregation; data residencies and skills training; self-publishing initiatives; providing access to e-books and developing digital tools. At the convening library and archive leaders will discuss key needs, gaps, opportunities, and goals to consider in furthering national digital initiatives. An agenda is available on the IMLS website<http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=3&d=73&mid=363882&m=2053>.
