Library Law Consultant Position Library of Michigan, Michigan Department of Education, Michigan The Library of Michigan, located in Lansing, seeks to add a Library Consultant to its Statewide Services department to provide support and consultation to library staff throughout Michigan and participate as a team member for statewide library development. This position provides general consultation with a specialization in legal issues and laws related to libraries for the Michigan library community and coordinates statewide activities for the Library of Michigan, including presentation of educational programs and the creation of resources related to legal issues and general library management. This position provides departmental staff with information and advice on legal issues of libraries. Extensive independent judgment and interpretation is required to carry out assignments that have impact on libraries in Michigan as well as services or programs provided by Library of Michigan. The position represents the Library of Michigan at state and national levels, participates in pertinent professional associations and acquires continuing education essential to carry out job responsibilities. Qualifications: ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library Science and preferred Juris Doctorate and membership in good standing with the Michigan State Bar. Internet filtering software available through TRIG

The Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant (TRIG) is pleased to announce a statewide internet content filtering purchasing opportunity for Michigan schools and public libraries. This opportunity is being made available as part of the Data Services Collaborative Activity of TRIG and is being led by the Greater Michigan Educational Consortium (GMEC) in partnership with REMCAM. As the result of their responses to an Invitation to Bid, two vendors, iboss and Lightspeed, have been awarded statewide contracts for Michigan. Any public library in Michigan can choose to purchase internet content filtering products and services from either vendor at the special library pricing. The <http://www.shreve-lib.org/> Shreve Memorial Library Board of Control seeks an experienced "dreamer and a doer" to inspire vision while guiding the Library in providing quality services and programs to the Caddo Parish (LA) community. The new Library Director, in collaboration with the Board of Control, staff and stakeholders, will initiate and implement a new strategic direction and future focus for the Shreve Memorial Library. Governed by an eight-member appointed Board of Control and 2 Ex Officio--the Mayor and the Commission President, the Library serves the 255,000 citizens of the Parish with a committed staff (182 FTE), a $17.5 million annual operating budget, and 22 locations. In addition to 20 branches, SML supports a Main Library (on the Register of Historic Places), mobile outreach services, and the soon to be completed administrative/support services building (2015). Library revenues are generated through two dedicated, 10-year renewable property tax levies. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Director to guide a library system with diverse culture, strong public support, and a solid funding base for service and program development.
