The Delta Township Manager's Office will be accepting applications for two part-time positions at the Delta Township District Library, 5130 Davenport Road in Lansing. PT Processing Clerk Under the supervision of the Library Services Coordinator, this position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities that assists in the smooth and efficient operation of the library, including unpacking, receiving and routing all library material, processing and preparing library materials for cataloging including covers, stamps, barcodes and spine labels, and assists in inventory of books and materials. Performs routine library and clerical tasks as directed or assigned. This position may also assist patrons at the circulation desk as requested. Prior experience working in a library setting is highly desirable. Flexibility in scheduling including the ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends is required. PT Youth Services Assistant Under the supervision of the Youth Services Librarian, this position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities that assists in the smooth and efficient operation of the library; plans library programs for infants, toddlers, youth, and teens; provides readers advisory and informational assistance to all ages; assists in maintaining the youth section of the library; assists with community and school outreach; assists as requested in other areas of the library. Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree. A minimum of six months library experience is desired. Knowledge and appreciation of youth and teen materials and culture is highly desirable. A high degree of comfort using computers and searching the Internet is required. Experience working with children required. Flexibility in scheduling including the ability to work evenings and Saturdays is required. Computer Problems

Hi Everyone! Our library has been experiencing several computer problems lately (virus protection popups, patrons log on to find a blank screen they cannot get past, printer issues that are "solved" only to not work again the next day, and so on). Our library board and I wanted to reach out and see what kind of systems and procedures other libraries use to keep their computers running smoothly. The library is a client of our county's IT department, so we do have access to people who can help us solve these problems, but it seems that I am contacting them on an almost-daily basis with either a new or repeating issue. School Library Management Software

Hello! I have a question on behalf of my town's school librarian. Currently, they are running a very old version of Follett Destiny and they want to update to a more current version. However, she is concerned that they would be better off trying a new system. She asked me to reach out and see if anyone has had success with a different product of if you recommend remaining with Destiny. I have never worked in a school library before, so I am unaware of the unique needs they have regarding their management software as opposed to those of a public library. The Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR) project has had a great start with the workshops and webinar with Sue McCleaf Nespeca last month. We are continuing with more webinars and newsletters throughout the rest of this year. The next webinar is Early Learning Environments, based on Every Child Ready to Read principles. Holocaust Remembrance Webinar April 17 reminder

Dear Colleagues, You have already received information about the series of events <https://sites.google.com/a/lakeviewspartans.org/holocaust-remembrance/> taking place in Battle Creek, Michigan in observance of Holocaust Remembrance 2016. I am pleased to let you know that the live webinar being offered on Sunday, April 17 from 1:00-2:00 PM (ET) is an Echoes and Reflections Enhanced Learning Opportunity developed and designed for educators who have previously completed an introductory Echoes and Reflections program. It will be presented live from Yad Vashem in Jerusalem by the International School for Holocaust Studies. The focus of the webinar will be on Righteous Among the Nations and is designed to prepare educators and students for viewing Yad Vashem's traveling exhibit "Besa: A Code of Honor" which is previewed at http://www.yadvashem.org/yv/en/exhibitions/besa/. This exhibit highlights Muslim Albanians who helped shelter Jews during the Holocaust. Expanding the topic of Rescuers and Non-Jewish Resistance, the session will provide a more in-depth study of the complexity of the decisions made by the Righteous Among the Nations in various countries. What moral lessons can be learned from these stories? How are the actions of communities and organizations different from those of diplomats or individuals? Can one person make a difference? Registration is available at http://bitly.com/BesaWebinar and will close on Wednesday night. There is no cost for this professional development event. This will also be the first time that Yad Vashem has delivered such an online training session in real time remotely from abroad to the US.
