The March primary presidential election is right around the corner so we are once again asking all libraries to post the attached flyer and share the following message via your communication channels. On Monday, March 7, we will send you a social media message that we hope you will also share. As always, thank you for your help! Election Alert Michigan presidential primary election on March 8 Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is encouraging all eligible voters to cast their ballots on Tuesday, March 8. To view your sample ballot or find your voting location, visit the Michigan Voter Information Center at www.michigan.gov/vote<http://www.michigan.gov/vote>. The polls are open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

MCLS - still time to register for Copy Cataloging of Digital Resources Using RDA

Wide distribution - please share with anyone who may want/need this training opportunity. There is still time to register for our online workshop, Copy Cataloging of Digital Resources Using RDA. Here is your chance to work with RDA (Resource Description and Access) as applied to the copy cataloging of digital resources. This hands-on workshop teaches participants how to catalog digital resources using such tools as the RDA toolkit, and the Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements. All forms of digital resources, virtual materials, such as websites, eBooks, eSerials and downloadable audio books, music and video files, as well as physical media, such as video games, CD-ROMs and other computer disks will be addressed. The class will address copy cataloging in the MARC format. The workshop is scheduled for March 8-10 from 1:30om to 3:30pm EST. Hello, We have books we would like to donate/recycle and wondered if anyone has a suggestion for a service that will pickup from the library? We plan to use ROSEY for the items that they will accept, but we have encyclopedias and other reference items that are too old to meet the criteria for ROSEY. Thanks for any suggestions! MCLS Deadline to register for Classification Web workshop

Wide distribution - please share with anyone who might want or need this type of training. Friday at noon EST is the deadline to register for Classification Web. The workshop is scheduled for March 1-3 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm EST. Classification Web is a product that enables anyone with access to the web to browse and search the full text of the LC classification schedules! FYI MI toll free phone to get forms "out of service area"

Greetings! This is the message we're getting when we call 1-800-367-6263 (1-800-FORM-2-ME) for State tax forms. Usually that's the message you get if you are calling a number that's for in/out state based on your location. The local Treasury office said the state telephone system went digital a few weeks ago and this may be the reason. She said she would alert her supervisor. And of course, everything is online. Have no idea when this may be fixed. It is the number than't on the MI Treasury website to call for froms. A reminder about the Every Child Ready to Read webinar coming up on March 8th. We hope to see you there. ____________________________________ For those wondering about the Every Child Ready to Read program, you can attend a webinar on March 8th at 2 pm to hear about the basics from Sue McCleaf Nespeca before the full day workshops at the end of the month. The registration page also includes information on the rest of the webinar series Sue will be doing. ___________________________________ The Library of Michigan is pleased to provide an in-depth Every Child Ready to Read program through 2016 and 2017. The program will include workshops, webinars, newsletters and materials. We are kicking off the program with a full day workshop with Sue Nespeca of Kid Lit Plus Consulting. The workshop will be an introduction to the program content and goals. An agenda will be forthcoming. The workshop will be held in three locations in March. The specific locations are: Tuesday, March 29th - Southfield Public Library Wednesday, March 30th - Kentwood Branch Library Thursday, March 31st - Traverse City District Library Cost for this workshop is $35 and includes a morning snack and lunch. Each day of the workshop will be 9:30 to 4:00 with registration beginning at 9:00. You can register at www.michigan.gov/libraryce<http://www.michigan.gov/libraryce>. Sue will also do several topical sessions at Rural Libraries Conference in May on Mackinac Island. A second set of advanced workshops will be done in March 2017.
