Although libraries have only recently finished summer programming this year, many of us are reviewing and assessing our successes (and challenges!) from this summer and are busy planning for next year. The Urban Libraries Council<http://www.urbanlibraries.org/> has developed a new toolkit in partnership with the National Summer Learning Association<http://www.summerlearning.org/>, as part of an initiative supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services<https://www.imls.gov/>. This brand new resource is designed to help libraries explore ways to expand summer reading and learning, and includes examples of successful summer learning models in libraries with links to many additional resources. Here is the link to this wonderful online resource: Libraries at the Center of Summer Learning and Fun: An Online Toolkit to Expand from Summer Reading to Summer Learning.<http://www.urbanlibraries.org/filebin/pdfs/ULC_NSLA_SummerLearningOnlineToo…> Be sure to check it out! On behalf of the ALSC Summer Reading and Learning Task Force, I wanted to let you know that we are looking at ways ALSC can support members in this important work. Many of you shared your thoughts and ideas earlier this year in the online Community Forum (archived here: http://www.ala.org/alsc/community-forums - be sure to log in) and in the Networking Uncommons session at ALA Annual in June. The Task Force's work is continuing and we welcome your ideas around how ALSC can best support you in your summer and out-of-school-time programming. Feel free to contact me at caputoc(a)freelibrary.org<mailto:caputoc@freelibrary.org> with your suggestions and ideas. Wishing you much success with the children and families you serve! by Carrie Bistline 03 Oct '16

03 Oct '16

Hi all, Does anyone use digital storage for archiving patron registrations? If so, which product? Costs? Pros/cons? I am doing research on the best way to store library patron registration forms. Currently, our patrons fill out and sign a paper registration form at our branches. Those forms are then stored in endless stacks of boxes at our Service Center. Thank you in advance, Carrie Bistline Patron Services Manager Kent District Library * 814 West River Ctr Dr. Comstock Park, MI 49321 * 616-784-4145 cbistline(a)kdl.org<mailto:cbistline@kdl.org>
