PLA's Project Outcome is a free toolkit designed to help public libraries understand and share the true impact of essential library services and programs by providing simple surveys and an easy-to-use process for measuring and analyzing outcomes. Project Outcome also provides libraries with the resources and training support needed to apply their results and confidently advocate for their library's future, helping them turn better data into better libraries. This special training opportunity brings an expert trainer to facilitate deep-dive training into outcome measurement using the Project Outcome tools. Convene a cohort of public libraries interested in implementing outcome measurement to drive change, influence decision making, and demonstrate the true impact of their library's programs and services on the community. The Library of Michigan in conjunction with the Public Library Association will be offering this workshop at four different locations this Spring! April 17 - University Center, Mt. Awarded by the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee, the grant program provides books submitted for consideration for the Coretta Scott King Book Awards to libraries and other organizations to expand their collections. Each year, three organizations that demonstrate need and potential benefit from receiving the collection are selected. All three libraries will receive copies of more than 40 titles submitted for consideration for the 2017 awards, including a full set of the 2017 winner and honor titles. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 21, 2017, and winners will be announced by mid-April. book character

Does anyone know what book this might be? I had a patron tell me he's been looking for this book for years, but doesn't know the title, the author or even if it's fiction or non-fiction. It takes place in Vietnam and one of the people is a Staff Sgt. nick-named "Sgt. Blue" because his skin was such a dark black that it had a bluish hue. I've searched and can't figure this one out. Anyone have a clue to what this book is? Thanks--Glen
