E-Rate: KISD State Consortium This year the TRIG E-Rate Activity is once again issuing a Statewide Form 470 for Category One, Internet Access and Transport. In order for entities to participate, each must submit a completed Letter of Agency (LOA), sign up for the KISD State Consortium in EPC, and email the completed LOA to somerate(a)gmail.com<mailto:somerate@gmail.com>. If your entity participates in the LOA process for FY17 then you need not issue your own Form 470 if satisfied with the bid responses. Conservation and Collections Care event, Nov. 2

There's still time to register for our next Conservation and Collections Care Camp. This open to anyone interested in caring for your library/archives/museum collections. It is a wonderful opportunity to hear what others in the state are doing. Fall 2016 Conservation and Collections Care Camp Announced! The organizers of the fifth Conservation and Collections Care Camp are pleased to announce that the next meeting set is for Wednesday, November 2, 2016. It will be held at Spring Arbor University, Ralph Carey Forum in the Student Life Center. The meeting will be held 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The event is free, however registration is required. Lunch will be provided and there is no cost for parking. The theme of this camp is Outside the Comfort Zone, where we encourage presenters to explore conservation issues that are outside their "normal." Whether it is paper-based archivist who finds nitrate film hidden in a collection or a small-shop that must deal with multiple kinds of historical material after a flood, this camp strives to touch all the bases, in order to help you get back inside your comfort zone. The agenda will consist of informal presentations and discussions by attendees and presenters who can share their situations and solutions. Grand Valley State University Libraries seeks an upbeat, creative, and self-motivated web developer to join the Systems and Technology team. We help create and maintain the websites and technologies that support our more than 25,000 students and faculty in their research. We're looking for someone who combines technical ability with empathy and a genuine interest in helping our students and faculty. You will build custom web applications and modify existing systems to better meet user needs. Your code will be open source, and your projects will be collaborative with colleagues throughout the library. You'll also help us test our projects with users and write and maintain documentation. Primary Responsibilities: • Develop, modify, and maintain custom web applications that interact with relational databases and/or APIs. • Maintain previously completed projects by troubleshooting issues as they arise and adding new functionality when requested. • Collaborate with Web Services Librarian and Digital Initiatives Librarian to customize and enhance functionality of the library systems and web sites. • Meet project deadlines as assigned; contribute towards multiple projects when necessary. • Follow coding standards and contribute to standards documentation. • Create and maintain project documentation. • Test projects to ensure application quality prior to client validation. Required Qualifications and Education: • Bachelor's degree (Candidates graduating in Fall 2016 considered) • Knowledge of current trends in computer software programming. • Demonstrated proficiency in one programming language. • Knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and database design. • Experience designing, developing, and supporting database driven applications. Graves has partnered with faculty in the School of Nursing and the Departments of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy to work on integrating library instruction and evidence-based searching into the curriculum. In addition to two decades of teaching experience, Graves has published several chapters on teaching and given multiple talks on presentation skills. Hi all-- The library board has chosen a site for a new building and we will be purchasing the vacant lot from the city soon. Momentum is high as the local paper is giving our building project front page coverage. We need a bond vote to fund the building. Alas, Lapeer County has no general elections in 2017. Some of us hate the thought of waiting almost two years for a vote. We cover twelve townships and a city so a special election would not be cheap.
