Our deposit collections are 150 items from our circulating collections, including large print and audio books, they get to keep them for 6 months. We offer this service to senior residences in the area. How our service works is only residents of Roseville are able to register and use the service for free, but their card will be changed over to a materials by mail patron code. What this means is that they will only be able to receive and return materials through the mail - their card will be invalid at the library. There are no late fees (though standard costs for lost materials apply), they can only check out materials available at the Roseville Public Library, and my email becomes the primary mode of contact so that I receive the notifications when holds are in, items are overdue, etc. (This is why the card becomes invalid at the library; if everyone could get away with no fines and having me be responsible for getting items back, everyone would sign up.) We will send all library materials except new DVDs and Lucky Day items because those have a shorter check-out period. We do have them fill out a registration form with their name, address, phone number, time to call, and some general questions about what types of materials they like, do they need large print, what kinds of books do they prefer, favorite authors, favorite genres, and how many items they want per mailing. When I send out a mailing, I include a couple bookmarks, and a sheet with the due date, person's name, library card number, the books they checked out, and a spot for them to rate them. I always include a little note so that the service feels more personal. Some of the patrons will request materials but others will let me choose their books for them, and the rating helps me to know if something was a hit or an epic fail. I keep an excel sheet for each patron with everything I've sent and what they rated it. This helps me to not send duplicates. I hope that answers your questions about our homebound delivery service. Hi Elissa I will answer your questions about homebound delivery Who delivers the books. We use a mail service that picks up bags here and puts postage on mailing tag to go thru the mail. How do you handle due dates. Most items will have due dates the same as the library uses. I will extend if they have dvd Do we cap the number of people of residencies you serve at one time? No cap Would anyone be willing to share written policies regarding homebound service. None in place. Posting for Position of Library Director 7/24/2017 The Holly Township Library Board is seeking a library director with leadership skills, knowledge of all aspects of library administration and superior communication skills. The Holly Township Library is located in the northwest corner of Oakland County. In addition to Holly Township residents, the library also serves residents in Groveland and Rose Townships. The annual budget is approximately $360,000 (including a 1 mill voted levy). The director would supervise a staff of 6 FTE, manage a 6,000 square foot library, oversee a collection of 50,000 items and administer a web based ILS. The library participates in the MeLCat statewide resource sharing program, the MILibrary borrowing program and an Overdrive Cooperative for the acquisition of electronic materials for patron use. Education & Experience A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution; possession of a Level 2 Librarian's Professional Certificate from the Library of Michigan, or the ability to obtain one on hire; a minimum of experience in an administrative capacity. Work Hours/ Compensation This is a salaried, exempt position for a minimum of 40 hours per week. It will include some evening and weekend hours as necessary. WWI programs

We've had several great library programs recently about WWI. Lois Sprengnether Keel: http://www.lois-sez.com/ She presents in costume, with props, about a bilingual young woman from the Port Huron area who enlisted in the Army Signal Corps, served in France during the war, but was denied veteran's benefits until the Carter administration. Lois is also in the MI Humanities Touring Directory, when there are funds available. Libraries Read: 1 Book discussion in Michigan, August 8

This is the third year of the Libraries Read: 1 Book program. By reading one book together, across library types and state lines, we aim to create deeper connections among libraries that span geographic and other boundaries. We hope you’ll join us and add your voice to the conversation. Hillbilly Elegy, a memoir by J.D. Vance, was selected as the title for 2017, capturing 40% of the votes. MCLS encourages library staff to read the book throughout the summer, then join us for a discussion about the book.
