Engraved memorial bricks
by LVW Mary Russell 25 Apr '18

25 Apr '18

If you have exterior engraved memorial bricks at your library - I want to talk with you! We have an outside area with engraved bricks outside and are not happy with them. I'm looking for suggestions for companies that will engrave them onsite (preferably ones that will travel to the mid-lower peninsula). And I'm looking for advice on upkeep. We have to repaint the names every few years. Any suggestions you have are more than welcome! Building a Culture of Learning with Library Boards - Free Webinar May 24 at 3pm
by White, Shannon (MDE) 25 Apr '18

25 Apr '18

Building a Culture of Learning with Library Boards Thursday, May 24, 2018, 3:00 pm Eastern, 60 minutes Registration: https://www.webjunction.org/events/webjunction/culture-of-learning-library-… Libraries that cultivate a culture of learning encourage their staff to participate in continuing education. But shouldn't this learning culture also extend to library boards? At the State Library of Iowa, we say yes! Trustees can and should play a key role in fostering a culture of learning at their libraries-beginning with themselves. When library boards embrace a learning culture, they become more receptive to supporting continuing education, in policy, planning, and budgeting. This webinar presents ideas for growing board learning into a blossoming culture that motivates board members to see education and training as a natural part of their trusteeship. This webinar is hosted in collaboration with the Association for Rural and Small Libraries<https://arsl.info/>. Presented by: Bonnie McKewon, Consultant, State Library of Iowa, Northwest District Shannon White Library of Michigan www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan<http://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan> 517.373.9489 Whites29(a)michigan.gov
