Teen Problem Behavior

Hello All, i'm looking for some help and feedback. I have a teen Dungeons & Dragons group that meets twice a month. I usually average about 30 kids. A few of the kids have been behaving badly (running around, not listening, disturbing the other kids, etc.). I'm just wondering if any libraries out there have a similar problem and how they've handled it. I have 3 other volunteers that help run it. We were thinking of having all the kids and their parents sign something like a behavior contract. We would outline the rules and it would be a "3 strikes you're out" policy. Kanopy vs Hoopla survey

I had recently asked about Kanopy vs Hoopla and here are the results: "We are just looking at Kanopy and it appears to be an extremely different product focussing on documentary films. We bought Hoopla for the streaming movies but what our patrons use it for the most is ebooks and eaudio." "We actually have both. Kanopy is mostly movies – some great foreign and indy films, as well as great courses. Hoopla has some movies, but they also have books and music as well. It’s our first year and we will be seeing how it works and how expensive it gets. We only allow four checkouts per month per library cardholder." "I don't think there's any comparison. Hoopla is primarily an ebook and eaudiobook platform for us and includes the ability to download content. The movies don't make up the bulk of use-we have far more book downloads. Kanopy is a streaming only platform which is only movies and documentaries and it's more for a specialized audience and to gain access to more documentaries, shorts and art house films which aren't feasible for physical purchase. Because it's streaming only, it will only serve families who have internet availability. We have both and I think the crossover audience for Kanopy is a subset of the Hoopla users." "We have hoopla because it is so much more than just films. It has an incredible Comics collection, (pretty much every major publisher including DC and Marvel) and has a good variety of audiobooks, ebooks, and music. The TV series and movies aren't bad but I wouldn't say it was their strength. " "We added both services at the GPPL this year. Kanopy is exclusively for video content, while Hoopla has a range of video, ebooks, and audiobooks. Hoopla’s main advantage seems to be in the variety of audiobooks, while the film selection from Kanopy is quite impressive. They both follow the “pay per use” model, so you could conceivably add both, and select a relatively low circulation limit per patron. Metal shelving available

Hi all, We've been doing some collection moving and weeding recently and have a variety of metal shelving that we're offering up to other libraries. Everything we have is beige and a variety of sizes and styles (flat shelving, angled shelving, flip top for newspapers/magazines). Rather than inventory everything we're parting with, I've attached a couple pictures so you can get a sense of what it looks like. *Position*: Network Administrator *Apply to*: Superiorland Library Cooperative *Compensation*: from $45,000 dependent on qualifications and experience; excellent benefit package which includes: health insurance; retirement plan; life insurance. *Reports to*: Cooperative Director *Supervises*: Network Support Technician. *Position Summary*: *This position is responsible for network (LAN/WAN), servers, desktop, risk management and webpage administration for the Superiorland Library Cooperative and its members. This position must be customer-service oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of computing resources.* *Essential Job Duties* - Configure, maintain, operate, administer and support network infrastructure (LAN/WAN). - Communicate with Internet Providers to identify network needs and respond to concerns and/or network issues. - Assist the Cooperative Director in the creation and evaluation of RFPs for the Internet Consortium and SLC member libraries. - Maintain, operate, administer and support servers (Linux and Windows), operating systems, and system software. - Assist member libraries with the administration of local servers, thin clients and local networks as needed. - Implement and maintain software solutions for public access computers and print control. - Provide training and workshops on technology for member library staff. - Manage IT security risk assessments and implement security tools, controls and standards. - Administrate internet filtering, antivirus software, and spam filters. - Setup, configure and maintain firewalls for the Cooperative and member libraries. - Implement new content and web functionality. - Maintain website and related server and network infrastructure. - Register domain names and configurations for member libraries as needed. - Stay abreast to new and trending technology and evaluate how it would be relevant to current library needs. - Ability to travel to Cooperative Libraries on a regular basis some requiring overnight stays. Some Libraries are a 5 hour drive from the Cooperative main office. *Qualifications* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related field 3+ years experience with supporting multiple networks of 100+ computers and servers Strong Knowledge of Windows Desktop OS and Windows Servers OS Strong Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Firewalls Knowledge of the Linux (Ubuntu) OS Basic knowledge of HTML/XML, CSS and Content Management Systems Valid Michigan driver’s license and transportation for travel Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but those received by 5 o'clock pm on 3/30/2018 will receive first consideration.
