by Valerie Long 08 Jul '19

Good afternoon, We currently have four (4) volumes of the Michigan Compiled Laws Service books by LexisNexis that we'd like to give away. We already have these four volumes in our collection, but we don't want them to go to waste. They're the 2017 Revision of Volumes 23A & 23B, 30, and 32. Those are the latest revisions for those 4 volumes. If your library can use them, please respond off list with your RIDES code and we'll ship them to the first one to respond. Thank you! To the collective Librarian brain. My board is considering a policy on nepotism, do any libraries have such a policy they would like to share? Please reply to me and not to the whole list. My board is also looking at sick time/vacation time policies. Thank you, John Sheridan, Director West Branch District Library

inquiry on bed bugs
by Laura Hauch 08 Jul '19

08 Jul '19

Hello everyone, Over the past few years, we've had a significant increase in patrons returning items with bed bugs, and were wondering how other libraries handle these situations. Currently, we inspect items for bugs and signs of bugs at check in. Anything that has bugs is discarded, and anything that was either in the drop box with or in the household at the same time as affected items is treated in our ZappBug heat box. The patron's borrowing privileges are restricted until they provide proof of a clear inspection. Has your library noticed an increase in pest issues? Do you check your items for bed bugs? Do you discard or treat items, and how do you treat them? How do you handle the patrons, and do you charge them for the items? Thank you for any insight. I can compile and post responses if there is interest. Shelf-markers
by Lisa Rabey 08 Jul '19

08 Jul '19

Hello! I'm cataloging and setting up a small library for a local art museum. I'm sorting the collection by art period so I'll need some shelf-markers for the separation. Any suggestions where to go for purchasing? They must be writeable. I'll collate the answers and send them to the list when I'm done. Thanks! Lisa
