I wanted to share this awesome opportunity to have one of our own home grown authors speak at your libraries. Tim Ellis and Brad Blair, along with other members of the UPPRS and Eagle Radio, have been amazing to our libraries over the years. I can't recommend them enough for programs about their investigations, their book, their radio show, The Creaking Door, and many other fantastic possible events. Tim even was the emcee for our infamous Pie Eating Contest this summer. His personality and love of libraries make him the perfect presenter for your library. It's also for anyone willing to make the drive 😄 August 21 Follett launched the registration site for the Follett Institute – Grand Rapids, MI that will take place October 1-3, at the Grand Rapids Christian Schools District. So many librarians are scared to take the leap of faith required to start a makerspace so we talk about various ways to implement one while still meeting your comfort level. We’re really excited about day 3 and we think it’ll be great information that librarians can really use right away to further concrete themselves as an important component of their campus. 2019 MI PR Group Unconference - registration closes next Wednesday!

Hi Everyone, We are excited that registration for our 2019 MI PR Group Unconference is now open through next week Wednesday, September 11. The MI PR Group an informal PR group to work together and share our successes, learn from our non-successes and put our brains together to try and tackle issues and help all of our libraries. We invite anyone involved with marketing or public relations in libraries to this group. It will be on Monday, September 16 from 10am - 4:30pm at the Library of Michigan in Lansing. Performs year round upkeep of library grounds through picking up trash, cutting grass, raking, pickup of litter, shoveling of snow, salting of parking lots/sidewalks, and care of shrubbery and plantings. Experience: This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Three years of facilities/maintenance experience in a related building. Possession of a Michigan motor vehicle operator's license. Schedule: 25 hours per week, primarily on mornings, nights and weekends. Occasionally will be required to work a day shift during the week.
