Part-time Programming Aide The Clarkston Independence District Library is looking for a creative and enthusiastic person to become a member of our Youth Services Team! We are in the midst of creating new and innovative programming for our community and need someone to help us out! If you are interested, check out the job description below. Salary: $11.00- $16.00 per hour depending on experience Hours: 10-20 hours per week Primary job duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: • Preparation and facilitation of programs for children from birth to age 18 • Promotion of collections through creation of displays • Perform other library duties as assigned Qualifications: • Professional and enthusiastic attitude towards providing public library service to patrons • Experience working with children • A desire to serve the public in a positive manner • Familiarity with popular reading materials and genre collections for youth • Familiarity with popular technology including Zoom, Facebook Live and editing software preferred • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships • Knowledge of Integrated Library systems, Polaris preferred • Knowledge of popular office computer programs • Ability to lift, push and/or pull at least 20 pounds • Flexibility to work varied hours Reports to: Head of Children’s & Teen Services Materials for application which should include a resume and cover letter, are due by October 23rd, and should be sent to: Tracy Bedford Head of Children’s and Teen Services bedfordt(a)cidlibrary.org

The 2021 grant cycle is open for the Will Eisner Graphic Novels Grants for Libraries!<http://www.ala.org/rt/gncrt/eisner> Three Will Eisner Graphic Novel Grants for Libraries are given annually - two Will Eisner Graphic Novel Growth Grants will provide support to two libraries that would like to expand its existing graphic novel services and programs and one Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant will provide support to a library for the initiation of a graphic novel service, program or initiative. These Grants will support two categorical grants that will encourage public awareness on the rise and importance of graphic literature, sequential art, and comics as a literary medium. The objective of the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Grants for Libraries is to facilitate library-generated programs and services that will promote graphic novels to library patrons and to the local community. Eligibility * All applicants must be current members of ALA in good standing at the time of application (personal or organizational). * The institution can be a school, public, academic or special library and must be located in North America (Canada, United States, or Mexico). * Existing commercial programs will not be considered. * Any library or Friends group may submit an application to the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant. * A library or Friends group may not submit an application to Will Eisner Graphic Novel Growth Grant and the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant in the same year. * Past winners of the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Award for Libraries are eligible to receive a Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant. * No library or Friends group should receive the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant more than two times over the five year period. * No library or Friends group should receive the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Growth Grant for a project or program sponsored by Will Eisner Graphic Novel Grant funding. * Institutions represented by the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant Jury are eligible to apply, but Committee members must recuse themselves from the discussion and voting or decline the nomination if they have a conflict of interest. Great Magic Show recommendation

Hi All, We just hosted a Zoom Magic Show presented by Jeff Wawrzaszek of A2 Magic. If any of you have seen Jeff perform live, you know he is a great performer-fun, funny, and entertaining. Well, he is just as good virtually! His performance was smooth from one act to another and he kept our virtual audience engaged throughout. He even made the show interactive by calling on a couple of kids to help with 2 of his tricks! Jeff also demonstrated a couple of easy tricks the kids could try at home.
