Position: Circulation Clerk – Part-time Rate of Pate: $12.00 per hour Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays. Must be flexible Qualifications: * Possession of high school diploma. Associate degree or college course work preferred. * Library work experience desirable. * Experience with CARL-X preferred. Knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. * Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills. * Must have the ability to work pleasantly with the public: enthusiastic, friendly and approachable. * Operate standard office equipment and computer related technology devices. * Must be able to multi-task and work independently. Primary Job Duties: * Work involves responsibility for routine circulation, shelf maintenance, delivery, process holds and clerical functions using automated ILS system. * Greet and direct library patrons * Check out, check in and renew library materials * Register patrons for library cards, renew and replace cards * Collect fines and fees and operate cash register * Empty book drop, process delivery * Shelving library materials, and answering telephone * Assist with opening/closing procedures * Other duties as assigned Physical Demands: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as lift, bend, reach, stoop, and push or pull a loaded book cart. This lively session incorporates Jim Gill's<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jimgi…> most recent songs as well as in-depth discussion connecting music play with school readiness, literacy development and early math development. Librarians will leave the session inspired to share a new repertoire of songs and playful literacy activities with the children they care for. Even more, they will leave the session understanding that what is most challenging about working in early childhood is also what makes the profession so exciting. When we define our teaching as helping children learn, we not only provide joyous challenges for the children. We also keep ourselves engaged and rejuvenated by watching their excitement as they learn. This workshop will connect with the 5 practices of Ready to Read Michigan. Jim Gill is a musician and author with unique credentials among children's artists. Jim is a child development specialist, having completed his graduate studies in child development at the Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play. For this reason, each of Jim's recordings and books is created as an opportunity for playful interactions between a child and a caring adult. In addition to his studies, Jim's 20 years of experience creating and leading play groups for families with children with special needs has informed his work. Jim led weekly music play programs at numerous therapeutic and family support agencies in the Chicago area. His unique writing style-combining word play and movement opportunities into songs-was inspired by this work. Just as important, his strategies to promote family involvement in his concerts were developed through these weekly sessions. Jim has released seven award-winning CDs of music play for young children that are favorites in family rooms, classrooms and playrooms. He is also the author of two children's books. His latest, A Soup Opera, is a sing-along opera inspired by concerts that Jim performs with symphony orchestras. The book received an American Library Association award in 2010. Jim has received five separate awards from the American Library Association for his recordings and books over the years. Jim speaks to early childhood educators, care providers and children's librarians across the country about the many benefits of play in young children's lives. Jim has shared his expertise on music, play and literacy with organizations such as Head Start, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Association for Family Child Care and, most recently, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This project is made possible by grant funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the State of Michigan through the Library of Michigan. .lib.mi.us Domain Change

Hello to my esteemed colleagues! I am reaching out to you in the hope that someone on this listserve will be able to help me solve an ongoing problem for our library. It's regarding our domain, which ends in the following: lib.mi.us. The full domain is clinton.lib.mi.us I have tried contacting the Library of Michigan and the administrators of Ploud (our previous website platform) to no avail. I have also used several registrar search tools to attempt to locate who manages the domains, also unsuccessfully. A U.S. Whois search produces no results. Same with ICANN. I don't know what to try next. Any suggestions? I am attempting to get the domain pointed to our current website. A google search still ranks our old website high on search results, which causes a lot of confusion. I would appreciate any and all insight anyone can provide! At MLA's first in-person conference since 2019, we invite attendees to LEVEL UP.
