partnership policies
by Jill Rauh 22 Oct '26

22 Oct '26

Hi all, a two-part question: 1) Does anyone have a partnership/collrboration policy they'd be willing to share? Is this even a thing? We get lots of requests to "partner" but they often are extremely vague. 2) Sort of related, is anyone involved with a school that has contracted with Communities In Schools? We've had an informal relationship with our school district wherein we show up at events when asked (such as resource fairs) or put on events when asked. With the third-party Communities In Schools, we would have to sign a contract with them and deal only with them. At present we will not be signing, due to some expectations on our part about what we will provide. I was just wondering if anyone out there had experience with them. Thanks! Any library in Southern Michigan interested in hosting Shamrocks & Shenanigans too and keep travel costs down?? It looks like a fun, family friendly event. Let me know, maybe they’d give us all deal! Hi Leesa, Thank you so much for reaching out about Paul Strickland’s storytelling programs! My name is Kamryn, and I handle Paul’s bookings. I look forward to learning more about your interests in bringing one of Paul's programs to your library. Paul's programs suit all ages, depending on the event you're interested in. We can do a show for children, adults, or a mix of both! For Shamrocks & Shenanigans, we typically book programs at $499 (or $849 for two programs on the same day) plus travel (for your library: 323 miles × $0.70 = $226, for a total of $725 or $1075). However, we may have some really helpful routing options in March as we secure other bookings. We also offer the option that if you help us find other local libraries in your area to book, we’d love to give you some individual savings on the cost. As always, everything’s negotiable. Our goal is to bring these stories to as many communities as possible, and we’re always happy to try and work with your budget. If you have any dates in mind, let's discuss how we can bring Paul to the Otsego District Public Library. Hopeful we can bring some storytelling and laughter your way this coming year or sometime down the road! It’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Password Update Overdue?
by Quick, Shauna (MDE) 20 Oct '26

20 Oct '26

Hello! The third Cybersecurity Awareness Month mini-game is here! Week 3: https://quokka-tfvq2m.my.canva.site/password-update-overdue Previous Games Week 1: https://quokka-tfvq2m.my.canva.site/ Week 2: https://quokka-tfvq2m.my.canva.site/library-cybersecurity-hidden-puzzle-wee… Week 3: https://quokka-tfvq2m.my.canva.site/password-update-overdue This week's mini game takes inspiration from Neal.fun's "The Password Game" with a library security spin (give it a search if you want more of a challenge!). I've hit the monthly token limit for Canva, which is an interesting position to be in for this project. This week I used Anthropic's Claude to help me create the prompts for Canva to make the process more efficient when submitting to Canva. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month; an annual nationwide initiative focused on promoting safer online practices and increasing awareness of digital threats. For libraries, cybersecurity is especially important: staff handle sensitive patron information, rely on networked systems every day, and play a key role in modeling safe digital behavior for the community. Strengthening cybersecurity habits helps protect both library operations and the communities we serve. I’m excited to share a series of short, interactive mini‑games created in Canva using Canva’s AI tools, with support from use of Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude. Each week in October, I’ll send a new email with a direct link to that week’s game. Feel free to share the links with staff internally. Please note: the games will only be available through November 30. I hope these games add a little fun to your October while giving your cybersecurity skills a quick boost. Always, Shauna Quick Library Technology Access Consultant Library of Michigan, 702 W.
