Balloon Animals / Creepy Clown?

Hi folks, I'm hosting a Haunted Carnival for teens in October. One thing my teen advisory board desperately wanted to see, that I've been subsequently putting off because I have no idea how to achieve it, is a creepy clown making weird balloon animals for them. I hesitate to cold call random clowns, etc, as this seems like a very specific ask. At this point I was going to let it go for the year, but figured I would send a hail mary to the librarian hivemind to ask if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for a vendor that they have *somehow *worked with in a similar context. Internet access for minors policies in class 5 and 6 libraries Resposnses

Hi all, I was asked to share the responses I received to my recent query of how class 5 and 6 libraries manage minors' access to the Internet, which I’ve compiled into the attached MS Word document. In summary, there are essentially two strains of thought among our colleagues: 1. This who limit access to those 18 or under using various means at the guardian’s discretion. 2. Those who filter for CIPA compliance but otherwise allow all minors Internet access, believing it’s the guardian’s responsibility to personally supervise their children if they prefer otherwise. Yoto players?

Hello, Do your library circulate a Yoto player in a Library of Things? A board member suggested it as something that is helpful for children struggling with dyslexia. I like the idea of this and want to provide children with this alternative method as physical audiobooks can be tough to utilize nowadays. Currently I have selected a Yoto Mini, carrying case, and about 10 different cards. I also would love to create some of their DIY cards with "story times" recorded by us librarians here. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have! >>>>> The 4th round of the Public Library Financial Management Cohort is open! We are pleased to be able to bring back the cohort for 2025/2026. If you have managerial financial responsibilities and want to learn more about public library financial management, please review the information below and sign up! The Library of Michigan works to provide library specific administrative training for public library staff. As part of this goal, LM is working with the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government to provide a public library financial management certificate program for a cohort of up to 30 public library staff members. Recommended participants may be public library directors, budget administrators, or other public library staff with managerial financial management responsibilities. This 4th round of the cohort is a 9-month series of classes focused on governmental financial accounting and policy development. The cohort does NOT include software or basic accounting instruction. The Library Financial Management Certification Program includes 6 online courses noted below and 16 instructor sessions and topical LM presentations. Participants are expected to complete all classes and attend all sessions/presentations.
