November 8, 2024, 10:00am-11:30am - The Modern eAccessibility Landscape in Public Libraries On April 24, 2024, the Department of Justice's issued a final rule updating its regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The final rule has specific requirements about how to ensure that web content and mobile applications (apps) are accessible to people with disabilities. This webinar will provide information, tips and techniques for library web, mobile site, and app content creators to assist them in ensuring their library's websites, apps, and mobile sites are compliant with new accessibility requirements. Learners will be able to compare their library to 620+ other public libraries on key web accessibility success indicators. Learn about the supports a library needs to create and maintain an accessible digital footprint. This presentation is intended for library directors and staff who manage and maintain library websites, mobile sites, and apps, as well as for those who are responsible for a library's ADA and PWDCRA and accessibility compliance. For this occasion, the Clarke's collection of Pokagon's birch bark books will be on exhibit. Hi everyone, Michigan Humanities will be hosting our Great Michigan Read Author Reunion this Thursday! This event features Beth Nguyen, Kevin Boyle, Steve Luxenberg, Kekla Magoon, Dr. Mona Hanna, Mary Doria Russell, and Angeline Boulley. In a conversation moderated by Bill Castanier, these authors will come together to discuss the ways that literature is critical to building empathy and understanding. This event takes place October 24, 6:30 p.m., at the Pasant Theatre at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts in East Lansing. A book signing with the featured authors will follow the panel conversation; Schuler Books will be on site with copies for purchase. This event will also serve as the announcement of the 10th Great Michigan Read title. Admission to this event is free, but registration is required. Hi Michlib! Baldwin recently hosted the State Director of the Mufon, or Mutual UFO Network, Bill Konkolesy. His presentation was UFO Disclosure Right Now? Bill discussed the current state of affairs regarding our Government and the UFO?UAP phenomenon. He was personable, knowledgeable and engaging. The presentation was well attended and he answered questions for about 40 minutes after his hour presentation ended. I highly recommend Bill for your library. Libraries may now apply online for funding until December 11, 2024. Up to 300 libraries will be awarded grants up to $20,000 in this application period.
