We don't charge for scanning, which library users are often pleasantly surprised by. That said, we are a pretty small library so we haven't had any problems (knock on wood) with folks abusing this service. Book Spine Bookmarks - Help!

Hi library world, I saw a craft I wanted to try, and scheduled it thinking it would be a breeze. Now, three book spines later, I still have not been able to make this craft work. I was attempting to make a cool bookmark from a book spine. Have any of you crafty librarians out there tried this craft? Do you have any tips or tricks you can share with me to make it work? OR, on the other hand, do you have anything similar - a book inspired bookmark of sorts - that may be a simpler craft that I could easily create instead? This craft isn't for a couple months, so I still have time to freak out...I mean, plan and prepare...haha. But, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated! November 8, 2024, 10:00am-11:30am - The Modern eAccessibility Landscape in Public Libraries On April 24, 2024, the Department of Justice's issued a final rule updating its regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The final rule has specific requirements about how to ensure that web content and mobile applications (apps) are accessible to people with disabilities. This webinar will provide information, tips and techniques for library web, mobile site, and app content creators to assist them in ensuring their library's websites, apps, and mobile sites are compliant with new accessibility requirements. Learners will be able to compare their library to 620+ other public libraries on key web accessibility success indicators. Learn about the supports a library needs to create and maintain an accessible digital footprint. This presentation is intended for library directors and staff who manage and maintain library websites, mobile sites, and apps, as well as for those who are responsible for a library's ADA and PWDCRA and accessibility compliance. Seeking ESL/ELL volunteer for Spring 2025

Hello Everyone! Our library typically offers English Language Lessons (for 16 people) 2x a year. Our volunteer is unable to offer it this Spring (2025) due to surgery. I am thus urgently seeking a temporary replacement or replacements. We typically offer a Beginner and Intermediate Session. I require previous teaching or ESL experience for this volunteer opportunity. This class is currently offered on Fridays in the morning and afternoon. The dates are currently as follows: Beginner: Fridays at 10:30am-12pm 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 Description: This class is for adult beginners who recently arrived in the USA/Michigan. We will have conversation time for listening, speaking, and writing. Also, a discussion of topics that are for the beginner level. The final class will conclude with a party type group activity. Intermediate: Fridays at 1-2:30pm 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 Description: These sessions will be for intermediate/advanced level adults. We will discuss a variety of subjects during our 8 weeks of class. Also, friendly conversations with other students, listening and speaking in English. The final class will conclude with a party type group activity.
