For academic libraries, do you still have a Reference collection? We are starting to weed our collection and are curious about other academics' thoughts about reference books-especially since libraries, and how people use libraries, are evolving and changing. We are a small business library. We did a major renovation of our space and a lot of our books (Reference and others) ended up in storage. We also lost a lot of room for shelves, so we definitely must weed. In your opinion, are reference books still relevant? Good morning and Happy Halloween all! I saw Caroline T. share an invitation yesterday to a Discord server focused on Library of Things collections, which was a brilliant idea so I'm stealing it, and it inspired me to make one for Library Marketing! I know sending emails can sometimes get cumbersome, so if you are interested in joining, please reply to me directly and I'll share the invitation link with you! The purpose is to ask questions, lend support, share ideas, provide inspiration, and anything else you can think of pertaining to marketing, communications, PR, etc... I've cross-posted this with Michlib and my consortium (TLN) but if you are a part of another consortium, feel free to forward this to them, please and thanks! A note on Discord... it's a free online service for communication via messages but also through audio (if available). People can also share documents, images, and gifs. Website design and maintenance can be challenging! The Department of Justice has issued new regulations requiring that websites and mobile apps (including those produced and maintained by public libraries) be made accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Greetings, My name is Caroline Toplanaj and I am one of the librarians overseeing Rochester Hills Public Library's Innovative Items Collection (Library of Things). I've spoken to some of you, but figured this would be a quicker way to reach out. I have put together a Discord server for libraries that have libraries of things.
