Applications for the 2024-25 ARSL Leadership Institute<https://www.arsl.org/arsl-leadership-institute> participant cohort are now open until February 21, 2024. The ARSL Leadership Institute is a grant-funded pilot program that seeks to provide timely, relevant leadership development opportunities for rural and small library workers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities through their application materials: * Dedication to service in rural and small communities * Commitment to ARSL's Organizational Values * Enthusiasm for learning and professional growth * Interest in expanding library service to reach diverse and/or under-served communities * Aspirations to lead in their library and community * Openness to change in themselves, their library, and their community * Thorough understanding of the commitment required to complete the Institute program * Support from supervisors and/or organizational leadership for their participation Priority consideration will be given to applicants who: * Are currently serving in new library leadership positions, or who anticipate attaining their first library leadership position in the near future * Have worked in libraries for less than 10 years * Do not hold a Master's in Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree (or equivalent) * Self-identify as members of communities that have experienced marginalization and/or are under-represented within the library profession Additional ARSL information in their eNewsletter below. Michigan Academic Libraries Association (MiALA) 2024 Annual Conference - Call for Poster Proposals Libraries: Where Ideas Take Flight "Libraries: Where Ideas Take Flight" captures the curiosity, optimism, and technological innovation propelling academic libraries on an ascent towards new heights. As skilled navigators of knowledge, academic library workers are entrusted to ensure our communities' smooth voyage into intellectual exploration. Have you implemented a forward-looking approach, developed a best practice, or have an engaging idea or project to share? If so, join us as a copilot on this journey, inspiring attendees with ideas that will shape the trajectory of librarianship and academic libraries into the future. MiALA invites you and your colleagues to submit poster proposals for the 9th annual conference to be held in-person, May 15-17, 2024 at The Fetzer Center, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI. Participation from librarians, library staff, LIS students, and administrators from all types of academic libraries is encouraged. We welcome posters in any topic related to work in academic libraries, and particularly if they have a connection to the conference theme. Poster proposals should include a description of no more than 300 words. They will be evaluated on impact on academic libraries and higher education, originality and creativity, and clarity. Public Library Association Conference 2024

Hi everyone, I am pleased to share a personal invitation from Pat Losinski, Director of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, to attend the PLA Conference this year. In addition, pre-conference tours are being offered of several of CML's buildings. The ones I have seen are inspiring in design and worth the trip on their own. Attached is an overview. Children's Furniture and "Monkey Mitt" Fingerplay sets

Hi All, Please forgive my cross posting. Lyon Twp. Library has a children's size table with a set of four chairs to offer to any library who might be able to use them. They are too large to go through delivery, so you would need to pick them up. The Round Table is 25" tall with a 35.75" diameter. Chairs are 27.25" tall, 16" wide, and 15" deep. We also have a number of "Monkey Mitt" fingerplay sets. These will easily fit in a small mailing envelope, so just provide your library's MeL delivery number and I will send them over. Up for grabs are: - 1 Furry Glove - 1 Black Glove - 1 Monkey Mitt Rhymes Book - 5 Little Pumpkins - 3 Blind Mice - 3 Little Kittens - 5 Little Monkeys - 5 Little Ducks - 5 Little Bears - Colored Seals - B-I-N-G-O - The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly - Little Red Riding Hood (2 different sets) If you only want some of these, let me know and I'm happy to split them for different libraries. Stools Looking For A New Home
