The projects have been successfully completed. Thank you to everyone who participated! The MI-83 Technology, Libraries, and Communities (TLC Kits) Project provided laptops for patrons to borrow from libraries, critical to addressing the digital divide. In addition, this project provided programming materials to libraries for outdoor and digital events, allowing libraries to safely deliver services and events to their communities. The MI-83 Digital Library Connection (DLC Project) safely provided digital access to non-fiction information and resources (ebooks and audiobooks) in direct response to the pandemic and related economic and community needs through equitable approaches. Libraries have always played an essential role in communities and their role is more imperative now than ever before. Michigan libraries are now workspaces, tech hubs, health information centers, and beyond – growing and evolving to meet the needs of patrons in how we work, learn, access services, and socialize. Portland District Library Part-Time Job Opening

The Portland District Library is seeking a part-time library clerk to work in our youth department. This employee will be responsible for a weekly storytime, and other youth programming as needed. Other duties include processing books, ordering materials, helping patrons meet their information needs, and other tasks that go along with working in this busy library. The successful candidate must enjoy working with babies and toddlers, have a friendly and positive attitude, and be able to multitask and follow a project through from conception to completion. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older, and have a high school diploma. The hours of work for the position will be: · Mondays and Fridays from 8:45am – 3:00pm · Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm – 8:15pm Applications are available at the circulation desk or via email, and must be submitted by 5:00pm on Monday, July 17. Paid Internship: Suburban Library Cooperative

The Suburban Library Cooperative is seeking a student who is currently enrolled in a Library Science Master's Degree program at an accredited college or university for a paid, part-time internship. The Intern will complete service rotations at designated SLC libraries. The intern will learn to provide reference service/bibliographic instruction to adults, teens and children; assist patrons with library technology and mobile devices individually and in a classroom setting; assist with programming and collection development; and learn other aspects of Library operations, including Circulation, Technical Services, Community Engagement, Marketing, and Library Administration. This unique opportunity will allow the student to gain practical library knowledge and skills, while working alongside professional librarians and staff, in a variety of library settings. This position has a term length of 1 year, working 15 - 20 hours per week (including evening and weekend hours). Applicants should be enthusiastic about public service, exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a working knowledge of library technology, preferably Polaris. Familiarity with mobile devices (including tablets and eReaders) is essential. Hi friends, Yes, I said FREE COPIER! We have a Ricoh Aficio MPC4501A copier we are no longer using and need to give it away to the first responder! This machine was only used by staff and has been a real workhorse for us. We've kept it well maintained and it still runs great. (see attachment.) The copier has toner in it and comes with an extra Yellow and Magenta cartridge. It also comes loaded with staples and an extra box of staples too. You will need to pick it up and load it yourself.
