Lock Suggestions for Kits

Hello, Our library has Early Literacy kits and STEM kits available for patrons to check out with some adult kits on the way. We were using zip ties as a means of locking the kits to deter patrons from using them in the library. This was working for the most part but we had an incident the other day where a child opened multiple kits and the library staff had to spend a great deal of time finding the scattered pieces and putting the kits back together in the correct bags. I was wondering if any other libraries have found a good way to have their kits displayed but still keeping them locked so patrons cannot use them until after checking them out. Our literacy kits are in clear plastic bags and our STEM kits are in clear plastic Sterilite boxes. I've attached pictures of each kit so you can see what we were doing. We don't have the space to keep them behind the counters and unfortunately with our youth desk being unmanned most of the time, we are worried that this may happen more often. 6 inch letters for sign board

I will send them through rides if you can use them. I come from a long line of book lovers (my mom was a librarian!). Summer nights, cuddled up with my mom or grandmothers and a book are some of my most precious memories. Submit Your Read with Jenna Content Here<https://cslpreads.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd…> Summer Decoration Inspiration Submitted by Jennifer Goudeau, West Feliciana Parish Library, St. Francisville, LA I wanted to get the community involved in decorating the library for the summer, and get them excited to come in! I liked the idea shared at the summer symposium of the puzzle board, but wanted to expand on it to include more patrons. I eliminated the edge pieces in favor of organic edges so that the puzzle could grow as much as it was able to. I advertised on Facebook and put blank puzzle pieces at the front desk and at a coffee shop where the locals gather. The head of our local arts council is a regular patron, so I had him send out an email to the arts council about the showcase. I also contacted the librarians at all the schools in the area, who smoothed the way to get me in contact with the art teachers at each school in our parish. I ended up distributing 800 puzzle pieces to the elementary school and 200 to the middle school, and the art teachers left them for me to pick up. I also got all of the kids at our “alternative school” to decorate one (I deliver books to them every week, so we have a great rapport). I was really worried I wouldn’t get any puzzle pieces back, and my mural would be really small and sad. Instead, the opposite happened. I got over 750 puzzle pieces back, and when kids come in and look at the wall, they want to add to the wall, too! I have puzzle pieces out on our coloring sheet station and yesterday, the day of our first program, I got around 15 more to hang up. I’m so excited about this program, and about how beautiful our meeting room looks! Thank you for organizing the summer symposium and giving me the idea!
