Statement of support for Michigan State University: [Text Description automatically generated] Today we are unable to find any consolation following the tragedy that occurred at Michigan State University last night. There is no justification for an indiscriminate attack on a college campus or at any other venue. As we struggle with processing this incomprehensible act of violence, we know this is a moment to collectively work to prevent devastating events like this in the future. We support the University's students, faculty, staff, and their families as we condemn this senseless violence. We are grateful to the heroic work of the first responders who helped save as many lives as possible. It is our shared responsibility to act now to see that our schools, colleges, libraries, and communities are safe from such acts. Oak Park Public Library is looking for a part-time teen librarian that will coordinate with our youth librarian to provide and facilitate a variety of teen programs along with assisting at our information desk. We have been working diligently with community partnerships to provide programming for teens and this position will enhance and support these efforts. The schedule will be Mondays (afternoon-evening), Wednesdays (afternoon-evening) and Thursdays (daytime) along with some Sundays. The position will work approximately 16 -21 hours / week. Library General Fund Balance

Hello - Is there an average/standard practice for a library's general fund balance? Our board and I are interested in gauging whether we are spending as much as we should be. There's the potential question from the public of why go for a millage if you have "x" amount saved away. I asked my library cooperative, and received a handful of responses, varying widely from 15-60%. Given that broad range, was hoping to narrow it down to have a better idea. Thanks.
