How great is it that your library received thousands of free audio and ebook content available in perpetuity through OverDrive for your community? And a statewide marketing campaign to let all residents know what is available at their local library? Pretty great, right? We agree! But we aren’t done yet…we need your assistance. Since these items were purchased with grant funds through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), certain requirements need to be completed as with any grant. Summer Programming Survey now open through Sept 9th

The Collaborative Summer Library Program's (CSLP) annual survey is now open and will close Friday, September 9, 2022. CSLP has created a survey so they can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership! All public libraries in Michigan are CSLP members thanks to the Library of Michigan with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Job Opening: Ecorse Public Library Director

The Ecorse Public Library is hiring a new director, for a unique and exciting opportunity! The library is located in the heart of the City of Ecorse, Michigan, the eastern border of which is formed by the beautiful Detroit River. The library is a short walk away from the John D. Dingell riverfront park, where Storytime and other library events are enjoyed by our community. Our attractive Mid-Century style building is currently getting an extensive makeover to modernize facilities and our residents are eagerly awaiting its reopening. The library is part of The Library Network, with access to approximately 5 million library items in our shared library catalog. Library users can request these materials for free delivery to the library. The library also provides online access to our Overdrive ebook collection and other database resources. We are currently looking for a new library director to lead Ecorse Public Library into the future. With a service population of just under 10,000 residents, EPL is a Class 3 library in Michigan. The library is established under Michigan law as a PA 164, Section 1, City Library, with an appointed governing Board of Trustees. The city has authorized a non-voted millage of 1 mil, and an additional voted millage of .25 is also currently in place. Job Opportunity: Benton Harbor Public Library Circulation Supervisor

The Benton Harbor Public Library is seeking a Library Circulation Supervisor. This position will be front of the house, and is best suited to someone who loves working with people and has strong customer service skills. This is a full time (37.5 hours) a week position with a starting rate of $17.00/hr. Other benefits include paid time off (after 3 months) and the ability to participate in the library’s Retirement Plan. This person will work directly under the supervision of the Head of the Adult and Junior Departments and the Director. Job Duties: - Waits on patrons at the circulation desk and is able to perform all clerk duties as necessary - Check library application forms against data entry that is completed by other circulation staff - Train and supervise circulation staff - Reconcile cash drawer - Resolve disputes with patrons concerning overdue, lost and damaged items, directing unresolved issues to the Library Director or designee as necessary - Oversees printing and mailing of overdue lists - Enters department schedules into the online calendar - Helps with the development and creation of seasonal displays - Acts as the point person for Inter-library loan requests (through MelCat and OCLC) - Maintains the library's magazine subscriptions - Other duties as assigned Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent - Reliable transportation - Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. There is considerable walking, bending, standing, lifting, as well as pushing and pulling carts and moving equipment. - Proficient computer and technological skills and at least two years experience using Microsoft products, multi-line phone systems, fax and copy machines, smart devices and tablets.
