Hi all, Would anyone be willing to share a year-long program calendar that they collaborate on with their program team? We are a busy youth department with four program staff members and we need something more than our many paper calendars right now. Additionally, how does your social media guru keep everything organized? How do your librarians and program staff contribute to social media? I know some libraries use Trello, Google Calendar, Team Up or the like but other recommendations are always helpful. Library Assistant II Job Opening--Pentwater Township Library Qualifications: Must have an Associate's Degree or higher with previous relevant experience in a library setting and possess a high level of technology skills. Must be able to apply for Library of Michigan Certification Level 3 or 4 for a Class 1 library. Job Summary: The Assistant Librarian II position has a broad range of duties and responsibilities. This position ensures that high-quality library services and programming are provided to the public within the framework of PTL policies, procedures and budgets. Assistant Librarian II assess community interests and needs to assist in development of programs and services and work cooperatively with the Director and staff members. This position will work under the supervision of the Library Director. Duties and Responsibilities: Catalog-- Assist with Cataloging books, non-print materials, CD and DVD, Magazines along with assisting with the processing of items. Circulation Desk - Manage and oversee Circulation Services along with inventory, Check-out, Reserving, Shelf reading, Re-shelving library materials, Overdue Materials Reports, Monthly Stats, MEL Reports, ILS (Apollo), LibraryAware, Website (Ploud). Cooperate with Director and Assistant Librarian I updating Apps and software programs and training when needed. Maintain a regular scheduled circulation and desk shift. Offer excellent customer service, providing reference and readers' advisory services. Accurately and efficiently answers patrons' questions in various forms, including library account information, finding collection items and checking out materials. Training - Assists and educates staff and patrons in the use and navigation of the library's website, e-material platforms and other online services. Demonstrates and troubleshoots the use of equipment, software, mobile devices, and other technology. Programming Services - Assist Director and Assistant Librarian I with research, plans and presents programs and develops outreach and partnership opportunities that meet the needs of the community as outlined in the Strategic Plan or in response to patron demands. Other duties--Follow and apply all library rules, policies, procedures and patron privacy laws. General building cleaning with entire staff. Perform related duties as required. Accepts special assignments or duties in support of the library's goals and objectives. Display a friendly, helpful attitude towards patrons and co-worker, and be dependable and punctual. Hours: Regular part-time at 32 hours with two evening shifts per week and every other Saturday. Set schedule with the option of additional substitute hours. Benefits and Pay Rate: Paid Holidays, Vacation, Sick Leave, 3 Personal Days. $15.50 to $17 an hour based on experience and education. Michigan books

We have 21 boxes of books in storage. They all are on subjects relating to Michigan or Mackinaw. There are both fiction and nonfiction. They are books we already have multiple copies of and before we decide whether to hold additional copies we would like to offer them to any library that may have interest. The books are in varying conditions, although none are new. Many are withdrawn from our system and have the library stamps and labels. If your library can use any of them please list the Box # Item # and Title. Simmons Internship: Rare Book Survey at The Henry Ford

The Henry Ford’s Simmons Internship Program is designed for current graduate students pursuing careers in museums, historical agencies, conservation labs, or related fields. This internship provides participants with a great opportunity to gain in-depth work experience in a major American history museum. Stipend and Terms of Internship Simmons interns are awarded stipends for a minimum 12-week full time internship. Starting and ending dates for individual internships are negotiable. The Simmons Internship Program is funded by the Vera W. and Walter E. Simmons Endowment Fund. Duties and responsibilities include: * Rare Book Handling * Completion of previously developed survey * Research into provenance and value of library items In addition, at the completion of the internship, with assistance and input from appropriate staff, the student will present a synopsis of the project to an audience of The Henry Ford staff. School and Library Collaborating Card programs

Hi all; If your library currently has a collaborating circulation program with your local schools, I have some questions for you. We are looking for information about programs that include a library card (probably using the student ID) can be used at the public library. Who takes the administration lead on this program - the school or the public library? How are lost item costs handled? Which organization is responsible for collecting replacement costs? What pros and cons have your experienced with this type of program? Any other advice about starting this type of program? If we have more questions, can we contact you?
