Please share this information with anyone/group that may be interested in receiving this information. ***************************** Please see the below opportunity from the Michigan Academic Library Association: Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated deep-seated inequities within librarianship and society as a whole, particularly impacting library workers and students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color; and in support of the precedent set by ACRL in creating their ACRL Funding for BIPOC Library Workers initiative, the MiALA Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee, with the support of the MiALA board, have launched the Membership Funding for BIPOC Library and Archives Students and Workers initiative. This initiative will fund membership for 1 year for 10 library/archives students, as well as membership for 1 year for 5 library/archives workers. In order to be considered for this membership funding, applicants must identify as a Black, Indigenous, and/or as a Person of Color. Consideration will be extended to those who - serve underrepresented populations - have experienced household job loss or furlough in 2020 - are considered early-career professionals (less than 5 years experience) You do not have to be a current member of MiALA to apply. We are in the process of compiling a core collection, and since I'm not a librarian by trade, I'm asking for some tips on the best way to go about this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The Salem-South Lyon District Library (SSLDL) is a Class IV library. We employ approximately 45 full and part-time staff with a current annual budget of $1.6M. Position Available: Library Director Full time – The Director is expected to work a flexible schedule, based on 40 hours per week that includes special projects, Board meetings, Friends of the Library meetings, or similar activities. Just a few weeks left to submit nominations for the 2021 Michigan Author Award<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/0,9327,7-381-88855_89741-552583-…>, an award that recognizes an outstanding published body of literary work by an author who is either from Michigan or has substantial ties to Michigan. A list of previous winners can be found on the Michigan Author Award<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/0,9327,7-381-88855_89741_90017-5…> section of the Michigan Center for the Book<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/0,9327,7-381-88855_89741---,00.h…> website. Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination. The author must meet the following qualifications to be considered eligible for the award: 1. The author must either be a current resident of Michigan, a long-time resident of Michigan recently relocated or an author whose works are identified with Michigan because of subject matter and/or setting in Michigan. 2. The author's work may be in the form of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, or any other literary format the Michigan Author Award Group finds acceptable. 3. The author must have a body of work encompassing at least three published titles for adults, teens, or children. 4.
