A single resource has numerous elements of format, some related to where and how it was published, as well as how it conveys information. For example, an article may appear in a newspaper or a magazine or a journal, and in addition to text, it may contain images, data visualizations, or even video. These format elements can affect how a user judges information resources. They can tell users about how and why the information was created, how they should use it, and how trustworthy it might be. Yet, there is not a good vocabulary for describing or discussing the impact elements of format can have on information evaluation. Instead users are left with a "know-it-when-they-see-it" understanding of format types. A recent research project<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fguides.uf…> has attempted to address this issue by developing the concept of "containers" and locating it within a descriptive taxonomy of other format elements, and examining how students (4th grade - graduate school) choose resources for assignments. Presenters will discuss findings from the research study, including the role of format in the evaluation of web search results and how they are incorporating the findings into their own concepts and practice. Guidance will be provided on how to start food access initiatives with limited local partnership options, few staff and limited resources in rural, urban and suburban settings. The session will also explore how two statewide organizations support local libraries in this work through technical assistance and funding. Ready to Read Michigan update

Hello, In the last year we have all experienced change and growth with our traditional library programs, and Ready to Read Michigan<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/0,9264,7-381-88855_89743_89749--…> (RTRM) is also experiencing a shift. The Library of Michigan has transitioned RTRM to a program that focuses on supporting public library staff as they model early literacy skill development directly to families and caregivers with young children (ages birth to 5). RTRM will continue to train and support public library staff as they engage in outreach to families and caregivers, as well as early childhood centers, schools, and daycares in their community. RTRM will no longer create and provide materials around a specific book title. At the end of 2020, RTRM created the Ready to Read Michigan Toolkit: Workshops for Parents and Early Childhood Educators<https://www.michigan.gov/documents/libraryofmichigan/LM_2020_RTRM_Toolkit_7…> and offered a virtual training series with Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen. As RTRM moves forward, additional workshops and webinars will continue to be offered to library staff on best practices in early literacy.
