Forwarded on behalf of Stacey Erdman (she/her), Project Director – Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program. * Are you a library or archives worker tasked with overseeing digital collections at your job? * Are you short staffed, or have no/little budget to dedicate to this work? * Are you overwhelmed at the scope of the issues regarding stewarding your digital materials, and aren’t sure where to get started or what steps you need to take to safeguard your collections? * Have you been curious about undertaking assessment work, but are unsure where to start? * Do you frequently feel alone, or like you have no one that you can ask for advice, or even use as a sounding board for your ideas? * Do you have questions about technology implementation, workflows, best practices, creating policies, and advocating for support within your organization? * Do you have some work time available that you can dedicate to learning about and engaging in assessment work? * Would you like to be PAID to gain this experience, and to share with your peers? If you answered yes to these questions, then the Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program may be for you! About the Program The Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program is a supportive, year-long, cohort-based training program for cultural heritage professionals who are interested in learning and applying digital preservation assessment procedures into their work. Participants will be paid $3000 for participating, and their institutions will receive $870 to put towards technology purchases. This program will be delivered entirely online. We have provided a preferred application period for members of our Phase 1 partner organizations, which include the Association of Hawai’i Archivists, Northwest Archivists, Inc, and Amigos Library Services. Although these applicants will receive priority in the selection process, we are now soliciting applications from individuals who are not members of these organizations. Hi Everyone, I'd like to know how other libraries handle their marketing (print newsletters, email newsletters, social media and website updates, signage, library promotional materials, and other projects). Do you have a dedicated staff member for this role? If so, is it a full time or part time (how many hours)? What is the range of pay for the individual? Do you share marketing responsibilities among other staff, without a dedicated role? How many staff share and how do you communicate/coordinate? Do you outsource your marketing? Transforming Senior Services and Outreach ALA Webinar Wednesday, 11/17/2021 2:30 PM-4:00 PM (Eastern) The pandemic has exacerbated the challenge of reaching out to seniors, with seniors both at higher risk for the pandemic and less likely to use online services. This workshop covers innovations and best practices for library senior services that are emerging in the face of the pandemic. Attendees will learn ways to adapt outreach services through technology and how to adjust pre-pandemic programming to a time of restricted access and less personal contact. The workshop also presents innovative examples of completely new programming created during the pandemic. Timothy J. Dickey is an Adult Librarian with the nationally acclaimed Columbus Metropolitan Libraries and a library science educator teaching adult services, research methods, and library technology for the faculties of Kent State University and San José State University. The Clarke Historical Library Presents Kris Spaulding on Water in Michigan's Brewing Industry

On Wednesday, October 27, at 7:00 pm EDT, the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University will host the third of four presentations as part of the Clarke's Virtual Fall Speakers Series (you can find the entire line-up on the Clarke's website<https://www.cmich.edu/library/clarke/publicprograms/current_exhibit/pages/d…>). An industry with a long history in Michigan and that has a major impact on today's economy, brewing relies on clean water to create high-quality beer. Kris Spaulding, president and owner of Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids, will discuss the history and importance of water and sustainability in Michigan's world-class craft brewing industry. Joining her for this conversation will be Margrethe Kearney, a senior attorney with the Environmental Law and Policy Center. NEA's Big Read grant opportunity

The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read supports organizations across the country in developing community-wide reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to the community's chosen book. Approximately 75 organizations in communities of varying sizes across the country will be selected to participate in NEA Big Read each year from September through June. Selected organizations receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to support their NEA Big Read projects. In addition, the National Endowment for the Arts offers online content for each reading selection.
