Greetings from Michigan Humanities! Last week, our August e-news<https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Michigan-Humanities-August-2020-Enews.h…> included details about the new Bridging Michigan programming and grant opportunities that we are excited to kick off this Thursday, 8/13. On the Bridging Michigan page of our website<https://www.michiganhumanities.org/bridging-michigan/>, you'll find details about our first two online events and links to registration, as well as a save the date for the new grant that will open next Monday, August 17. As you'll see noted on the website, Bridging Michigan is an event series and funding opportunity that will spark in-depth conversation and action around the persistent social, economic, and cultural issues of systemic inequities. Through Bridging Michigan conversations and funding to organizations, we will be working with partners to engage in these critical areas of conversation, and focus on the history of these inequities and how the arts and humanities are active parts of creating change. This Thursday's event will feature Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha and Stephen Henderson in conversation about the impacts of systemic inequities on health and education (register here<https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_VVtw0bG5TmGY42AGU_9Icw>). On September 3, Matthew L.M. Staff Updates

With the near constant changes we're all experiencing, I wondered if anyone had found a great way to effectively communicate the current status of services with staff. Ideally, I'd love a 'living document' or 'wiki' platform that is very searchable and easy to contribute to. I'd like all staff to be able to quickly find an answer to patron questions by searching one spot. Reducing the number of transfers and 'we'll get back with you' responses. I'd also like it to be somewhat secure. I don't think this info is top secret, but it's intended audience is staff, so it seems like there should be some layer of security in place. I searched for Delgado and from his Wikipedia page, tried to look at the one edited volume listed in his works, whose publication date lined up with your recollection. I then tried to find a table of contents for the book in WorldCat and then in Google Books and the Internet Archive but had no luck. American Library Association announces 2021 Midwinter Meeting will be Virtual

Received from ALA Council Secretariat Marsha P. Burgess August 6: The following message is sent on behalf of the American Library Association President Julius C. Jefferson, Jr. CHICAGO — The American Library Association’s Executive Board announced today that the 2021 ALA Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits scheduled for January 22-26 in Indianapolis will take place virtually. “It is clear that as we continue to coexist with coronavirus, we need to adjust our approach to meetings and events,” said Julius C. Jefferson, Jr., ALA president. “In the last few months, we have successfully pivoted our delivery to present the Virtual Event in June and ALA’s Holding Space tour series this summer. Though we very much hoped to be able to meet in person in Indianapolis, the health and safety of conference attendees, ALA members and staff, exhibitors, and other stakeholders are the priority.” Jefferson continued: “We will have incredibly dynamic speakers, a full online exhibit floor, and more features that I know you’ll love.” The preliminary roster of speakers, which is set to include some of today’s most highly regarded keynoters and authors, will be announced early this fall along with ongoing announcements of programs, sessions, meetings, and exhibits. Registration will open in November. “This Midwinter would have been ALA’s last before we introduce a totally new convening that I think will truly excite members and the larger field,” ALA Executive Director Tracie D.
