In response to the temporary suspension of in-person learning and Executive Order 2020-35 (COVID-19)<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> the Michigan Department of Education has established a link to a new document, Supporting Summer Learning: Pandemic or Not (May 2020)<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> that includes guidance and resources to support K-12 students in such literacy realms as transitioning to summer learning, and accessing literacy enrichment activities in order to continue to build upon skills that will aid in literacy development, in accordance with the Read by Grade Three law.<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> As a reminder, the only portion of the Read by Grade Three law that has been temporarily suspended is the retention portion (Section 5(d)). All other components of the law are being upheld. The Early Literacy Task Force has compiled resources to aid in learning at a distance. MI Symptoms Web Application

Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef> Sharing a new screening questionnare for employees. It is a free web application developed and being implemented by the State of Michigan. In an effort to help reopening businesses safely reengage in the economy, the MI Symptoms Web Application<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> is a cost-free way for employers to comply with Executive Order 2020-97<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> and implement a COVID-19 symptoms screening questionnaire for employees. Designed primarily for employers and employees, the online tool is also available to all Michigan residents. Users enter information daily to help identify symptoms that might be caused by the virus and to make decisions about when to seek appropriate medical care. Local and state public health will also use the collective data to help identify the potential for new outbreaks of the disease. Some employers may ask or require employees to use MI Symptoms as they return to work to help identify potential cases of COVID-19 before it can spread. Employees will have an objective tool to inform their employer that they should not be coming to work without having to share symptom-specific information. After creation, a code will be generated that can be shared with employees to use on their profiles.
