Harbor Springs Library Closed

Cadillac Wexford Public Library Closing

*Cadillac Public Library and Branches Temporarily Closing* To protect the health of the Wexford County community, the Cadillac Wexford Public Library and its branches including the Manton Public Library, the Mesick Public Library, and the Buckley Public Library will close temporarily. The Cadillac Library will close at noon on Monday, March 16 through April 4th 2020. The local health situation will be reassessed at this time and plans made to open or continue the closure. The Manton, Mesick, and Buckley branches are closed effective Saturday, March 14 through April 4th. Library facilities will not be available to the public, physical books and materials will not be available for check out and all library programs and events are cancelled during this time period. Due dates for physical materials will be extended automatically and no overdue fines will be generated during this period. While the library’s physical space and materials will not be available, our online collections are still up and running. Residents and land owners of Wexford County can apply for a library card online through the library website at www.cadillaclibrary.org. Wifi access in the library’s parking lot will also be available from 9-6 p.m.. Staff will continue library programming and community engagement through social media and online platforms. This is a fluid situation and we learn more everyday about the effects of coronavirus and what measures community agencies should take. Services may be adjusted accordingly. Employee Pay During COVID-19 Closures

For those libraries that are closing, would any be willing to share what your policies are related to paying staff? Is this like a snow day for you? Does any library have limits to how long staff will be paid? Do any libraries require staff to use leave time for this? I'm gathering information for our board meeting Monday, who hasn't decided yet how they will handle a possible lengthy closing. Thank you for any information you're able to provide. A couple work arounds

Hello Everyone, Here are a couple work-arounds we're putting out there for patrons. Check your ILL and see if patrons can reset a pin or get a new e-card via online. That will help them use digital resources while you are closed. Also, I plan to leave our wifi on and promote than patrons can sit at the picnic table outside (it's at least in the 50s right now) or in their car at the curbside and use it with their own device. While that only helps those with their own device, I'm hoping it's "better than nothing." ----------------------------------------- Hello Everyone. Here is a post from the Milwaukee County Library System office regarding COVID-19 and digital resources available to you from the comfort of your home regardless of which MKE Co community you live in. http://www.mcfls.org/news-details.asp?ID=269 You just need an active library card and know you pin. Go here is you need to: https://bit.ly/3aTz2mo 1. Reset your pin 2. Pay a fine over $5.01 to unblock your card (fyi, I am working with the system to increase the block level to $1000, so anyone with fines can still use digital resources during this time). 3. To apply for a brand new e-card, if you don't have one or you have an expired one. Benzonia Public Library Closing

Benzonia Public Library Board of Trustees has made the difficult decision to close the library, effective immediately, as recommended by the Michigan Library Association. The library will be closed until further notice.This decision was not reached lightly.
