They assist patrons with the use of the library’s online catalog and other electronic resources. Additionally, this position will assist staff librarians with the creation of a variety of marketing materials and assist with programming and outreach events within the Adrian community. Hires, trains, evaluates departmental staff, and takes disciplinary action as needed. Oversees the department's annual budget and manages a current and relevant collection of materials for youth. Plans a variety of programs, displays, classes and other events for children and teens. Serves at the Youth Services desk and trains staff on library policies and procedures. Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and exceptional customer service. Works with staff throughout the library to develop and implement programming , partnerships and other projects that enhance the library's image in the community. Applications open for Library Freedom Institute - A privacy-focused collaborative program

Applications are open now for Library Freedom Institute (LFI), a one-of-a kind privacy-focused four-month program for librarians. * LFI teaches librarians the necessary to thrive as Privacy Advocates; from educating community members to influencing public policy. * At the close of the course, participants become part of the Library Freedom Project community, and continuing doing privacy work with an incredible group of peers. LFI is a privacy-focused collaborative program between New York University and Library Freedom. LFI is free of cost, a five-hour commitment per week (including 1-2 hours in real time), and mostly online with one in-person weekend component. The deadline for applications for the Friends of Michigan Libraries Merit Award is January 12. See details and link below for full details. Did your Friends of the Library carry out an outstanding project or a number of successful activities in your community during 2019 that had a significant impact on your library's services to the community? The Friends of Michigan Libraries (FOML) invites Michigan Friends groups to apply for this award. There are two $400 award categories: a Friends group serving a population under 12,000, and a Friends group serving a population of 12,000 and higher. (Consult with your library director for service population information.) Applications must be postmarked or emailed by Sunday, January 12, 2020. The winner will be presented with the award at the FOML Annual Membership Meeting.
