Hello, The Grosse Pointe Public Library is considering using SnapChat to reach our Tween audience. I'm wondering if any Libraries are using SnapChat. If you are using SnapChat, what avatar are you using, how long have you been using it, how are you using it, how many followers do you have, are you reaching your target audience of teens, what's working, what isn't? A search has been launched for a Director of Cook Library. The Director of Cook Library will serve as a member of the faculty, oversee all aspects of the life of the library, and contribute constructively to the seminary’s reformed, evangelical, and ecumenical identity, and to its mission “to prepare Christians called by God to lead the church in mission.” The position reports to the Academic Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Alvin Padilla. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 | 2:00 PM Outcome measurement is a way for libraries to assess their impact on the people they serve and helps libraries answer the question, "What good did we do?" In some instances, libraries may need to measure outcomes over a longer period of time to demonstrate their impact. This type of measurement could take a variety of forms, but this webinar will be focused on using benchmarking and longitudinal studies to measure outcomes over time. This webinar will also walk through a basic logic model process to determine short, intermediate and long-term outcomes. Program Recommendation - An Uncommon Criminal

Hi, In digging through your family history have you ever come across a criminal and con artist? This happened to Southfield Mayor and historian Ken Siver and he turned it into his latest book An Uncommon Criminal. His great grandfather was an international con artist during his 70 year crime spree. He pretended to be a doctor, war hero and more. He'll talk about his great grandfather and how he and his family uncovered the true story of Edwin Turner Osbaldeston in an engaging talk and presentation complete with lots of pictures from an era when photography was not the norm. Serving a District of 18,260 residents, the 34,500-square foot library (new in 2002) has a staff of 32 (11.1 FTEs), a collection of 148,161 items, and an annual operating budget of $1.6 million. The SLDL is an independent taxing District funded by two millage levies based on property tax (with one coming up for renewal in 2020). The Director, through vision, compassion, and energy will lead an experienced staff to continue to provide exceptional customer experiences through impactful programs and services. Opportunities include representing the Library externally to community stakeholders, completing planned energy efficiency upgrades/replacements, developing and implementing a strategic plan for Library advancement, and working with community leaders to achieve a successful millage campaign for the sustainability of library services. Under the general direction of the Spring Lake Library Board, the Director is responsible for all library operations, including the management of a public library collection and the provision of library services to patrons.
