Free wooden carts

Hello, Baldwin Public Library (Birmingham, MI) has six wooden carts free to a good home. They vary slightly in size but are on average 30" long, 14" deep, 35" tall. All are older but still in good condition and definitely functional. Due to their size and weight these are available for pick up only. Please email me off list to claim one or more, responses will be honored in the order they are received. If no one has responded by Wednesday next week (Jan 31) they will be scrapped. Dear Colleagues: The ALA LLAMA (Library Leadership & Management Association) Mentoring Committee is recruiting for both mentors and mentees for our July 2018-June 2019 year. The LLAMA Mentoring Program, http://www.ala.org/llama/llama-mentoring-program, pairs librarians who are currently in leadership positions with librarians who are interested in becoming leaders. Organization of Youth/Family DVDs

Hi everyone, Sending this out for a fellow staff member... We are reconsidering the organization of the youth DVD collection and would like to take a survey of how other Michigan libraries choose to organize their collections. It would be helpful if you could give us feedback on the following: Do you separate based on rating(G & PG) or do you keep them together but provide a label for the rating? How much information do you present on the spines (first letter of title, 3 letters of title, or whole title, etc)? If you label and organize by more than the first letter what kind of impact does the greater organization have on your staff's time and ability to keep things in order? Do you do anything special with tv shows/series? Thank you for your time! Henry Ford College in Dearborn is still accepting applications for our Library Director position. This is a union position and you would be supervising both the library and the learning lab staff. We are hopeful that sometime in the not-too-distant future we will have the funding necessary to renovate that library, so if that is your jam, then this could be your chance. The starting salary range is $83,305 - $90,172, ultimately determined by the college president, however the contract has yearly raises built in.
