Hi Everyone, At Chelsea we are in the process of exploring some different language learning database options that might better meet the needs of our users. We recently received a trial for Pronunciator and several of our staff have spent some time exploring and so far we are pleased with the flexibility this service allows for users to focus in on their specific needs when learning a language. Before we get too far into this process, I thought it might be a good idea to reach out and see what other libraries are using Pronunciator. If you use this service, how is it received by your patrons? Do you get a sense that they find it beneficial and user friendly? Also, have you experienced any issues that I might want to know about? Michigan Notable Author Tour

Airport Community Schools Libraries and the Carleton Branch Library host Patricia Majher, author of Great Girls in Michigan History, as she pays a special visit to the Village of Carleton at Airport High School as part of the “Michigan Notable Authors Tour.” Join us: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 6:30 pm Airport High School 11330 Grafton Road, Carleton MI 48117 Patricia Majher’s newest book, Great Girls in Michigan History, highlights 20 girls from Michigan’s past who did amazing things before they turned 20. Included among them are an aviator, two actresses, a deep-sea diver, a future First Lady, and the reigning queen of professional tennis, Serena Williams. For all of you who have been looking for a reason to clean out years of accumulated stuff, and a good place to take it - HERE'S YOUR CHANCE! We are looking for old bookmarks, VHS tapes, worn out paperbacks, microfilm reels, leftover bits of craft projects, newspapers, magazines, tax forms, etc. - AND LOTS AND LOTS OF DUCT TAPE! Are You Discarding Blu-Ray Cases?

Good morning! Just checking -does anyone have any Blu-Ray cases that they are going to discard/have been discarding? We have started a new Blu-Ray collection and are looking to get some Blu-Ray cases for packaging DVD/Blu-Ray combo-packs separately. We'd like the smaller blue cases so our patrons can tell the difference. Let me know, thanks! Hoopla checkouts question

For those libraries using Hoopla, how many checkouts per month are your patrons allowed to select? Do you limit your checkouts to district patrons or also include reciprocal? guns in the library

Do any of you have a procedure in place for when someone enters the library with a gun -(in a non-threatening way, of course!) ? I've been told quite a few years ago to call 911 and have the police come to check permits and such. This certainly doesn't sound like the best, least inflammatory way to handle it, but I don't know of something better.
