Reference Sets Available

Hi! The Sterling Heights Public Library has the following reference sets available to any interested library. You would need to pick them up. The first is Twentieth Century Literary Criticism (Gale) volumes 1-93. Volume 93 was published in 2000. These take up four full 36" shelves. The second is United States Code Annotated (USCA) (West) - complete, up to date, including indexes, etc. These take up 19 1/2 shelves (36" shelves) packed full. Group Home Residents

Dear Colleagues, I wonder if you have any policies that limit patrons living in group homes that differ in any way you treat general patrons. We have a group home who's residents come together to our library frequently to check out DVDs. We have a policy that limits 5 DVDs per Family. It's been suggested that we limit group home residents and treat them like a "family" because they share a household. I believe that they should be viewed as individuals and treated individually. Peter Pearson Workshop- Demonstrating the Relevance of Libraries in the Community

Hi Everyone, The Grosse Pointe Library Foundation and Friends of the Grosse Pointe Library are excited to host Peter Pearson, President of the Friends of the St. Paul Library, for a half-day workshop on "Demonstrating the Relevance of Libraries in the Community." We hosted him in 2012 for a workshop on fundraising and it was excellent. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 10am-12pm. It will be held at our Grosse Pointe Woods branch, 20680 Mack Avenue which is very close to I-94. Cost is $25 and breakfast will be provided. Deadline for registration is January 23, 2015. Call 313-343-2325. In the interest of serving as many libraries as possible, we will be limiting each library system to two people, however, you can leave names on a waiting list and if we don't fill up, we can allow more from one library to attend. Celebrating 10 years of MeLCat!: Reminder to join Online Party on January 9th

MeLCat will celebrate its 10th birthday in January. Please join us from 10am-12pm EST on Friday, January 9 for an online celebration. MeLCat is turning ten years old this month and we would like to invite staff from Michigan MeLCat libraries to a virtual birthday party to reminisce and share stories about the past ten years of MeLCat service.
